Cho Yong Pil Takes Over Billboard Korea K-Pop Hot 100: 'Bounce' And 'Hello' Both Crack Top Five, K-Pop Legend Owns The Top 50 [VIDEO]

It's official: a 63-year-old man is South Korea's number one chart-topping pop star.

Psy may have the international fame and record-breaking YouTube views, but Cho Yong Pil is currently controlling Billboard's Korea K-Pop Hot 100 after returning from a decade-long hiatus last month with his 19th album "Hello."

The song "Hello" is currently number five on Billboard's K-pop chart and "Bounce" is number two.

Psy's "Gentleman" sank to fourth place behind Akdong Musician's "I Love You," "Bounce," and the number one song, "Bom Bom Bom" by Roy Kim.

Although Cho Yong Pil's "Bounce" is no longer the number one song, as it was last week, the renowned artist has plenty to celebrate.

There are four additional Cho Yong Pil songs in the Billboard's K-pop top 50, bringing his total of chart topping songs this week to six.

"I Want to Go For A Walk" is number 17, "When I Meet You" is number 33, "The Day I returned to the Road" is number 34, "Shall I Say" is number 37, "The Flutters" is number 42, "I Need to Change" is 44 and "Poor Hopes" is at 50.

The appearance of "Hello" in the top five, up last week from number 29, could be due to a big-budget music for the song, released on April 24.

The music video for the song features elaborate special effects, particularly in the fantasy film-influenced climax.

In additional to his red-hot solo career, the world's oldest K-pop idol fronts a rock band called Cho Yong Pil and the Great Birth.

Although he was experimenting with newer sounds like hip hop (rapper VerbalJint is featured on "Hello") he had no idea how popular the album would be among 20-somethings, according to the Wall Street Journal.

"I feel like a beginner filled with passion," Cho said at a press performance on the day his album was released. "My heart's bouncing with excitement."

He did admit that he was aiming to reach a younger audience by using the sonic language of today.

"I wanted this album to be a catalyst toward generating a bond between long-time followers and younger music fans who don't know me as well," Mr. Cho told reporters.
