Thanks To Canadian Korean War Vets World Can Now Enjoy Psy's 'Gangnam Style'?

According to Canada's Veteran's Affairs Minister, the world would have never known the joys of "Gangnam Style" if it were not for the efforts of Canadian soldiers during the Korean War.

Steven Blaney, the Veteran's Affairs Minister in Canada, said in an interview on May 5 that because of the sacrifice made by Canadian soldiers during the Korean War, the world is able to enjoy Psy's hit song "Gangnam Style."

The conservative cabinet minister said, "We talk about 'Gangnam Style.' There wouldn't be a 'Gangnam Style' if we hadn't had the sacrifice of Canadians, members of the United Nations who came together with a resolve to ensure that we repelled communism."

The interview, which was broadcast on Radio-Canada Sunday evening, was done during a ceremony to pay respect to naval veterans from World War II who took part in the Battle of the Atlantic. The remarks were made during a question and answer session with reporters at the event when Blaney was asked to reflect on his recent trip to South Korea.

In addition to his "Gangnam Style" comment, the minister also described Korea as an international superpower, thriving democracy, and a place where the efforts of Canadians during the Korean War are still recognized and celebrated today.

Blaney did not, however, comment on whether Canadian veterans were also to credit for Psy's latest success with "Gentleman."
