BLACKPINK to Surpass TWICE's Record, MVs Reach Over Millions of Views in 24 Hours

It has only been 24 hours but 'Playing with Fire' and 'Stay' have already racked up millions and millions of views on YouTube making it a solid comeback for YG's rookie group BLACKPINK.

On November 1, BLACKPINK officially dropped their comeback single 'Square Two' and even before its release, the girls have already been making waves. BLACKPINK's comeback has been much anticipated and it is all because of their widely successful debut earlier this year. In just a day, Playing with Fire has already been viewed 4,500,000 times on YouTube while the more emotional Stay has 3,700,000 views, as reported by Allkpop. It's quite an outstanding feat from a rookie group and what's even more impressive is that BLACKPINK may even break TWICE's record.

TWICE had earlier broken BTS's record for the fastest kpop video to reach 10 million views; doing so in only 40.5 hours as opposed to BTS's 41 hours. If things go well for BLACKPINK and if they manage to keep their momentum, you can definitely expect them to break records upon records.

In Square Two, the girls have decided to slow things down a bit. If 'Boombayah' and 'Whistle' were meant to grab attention during their debut, this time the girls focused on showcasing their vocal chops with Playing with Fire and Stay. While Square Two is rather different from Square One, BLACKPINK is still bound to sweep the kpop scene.

According to Soompi, Square Two was co-produced by YG Entertainment's resident producer Teddy Park and he also helped write the lyrics as well. Along with the two aforementioned songs, the track will also include an acoustic version of Whistle.

Now, the girls' debut and success comes in an opportune time seeing as YG Entertainment's original girl band, 2ne1, is currently on hiatus following member Park Bom's drug scandal and the departure of maknae Minzy. With about three active boy bands, YG definitely needs an active female group to counter all that masculinity and BLACKPINK is definitely the perfect answer. With the way their careers are going, you can only expect good things for the girls of BLACKPINK.

The girls are set to appear on Inkigayo for their comeback performance this coming November 6 and will be performing on Mnet's M Countdown on November 10. They will also be appearing for the first time in a variety show sometime this November.
