MBC drama ‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo’ faces a fierce competition from ‘Legend of the Blue Sea’ in ratings
MBC drama “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” is facing a fierce competition from the SBS drama “Legend of the Blue Sea.” In the second episode, the drama invite two famous characters in their drama to appear as cameo role.
The aforementioned cameo roles are no other than characters from the MBC’s most popular drama “W: Two Worlds.” The first one is Lee Jong-Suk who appears in the second episode of “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo.” Lee will make a cameo appearance as Kang-Chul, his character name in “W: Two Worlds” as one of the customer of Bok-Joo’s father chicken restaurant.
One funny dialogue about Kang-Chul’s appearance is that when Book-Jo was surprised to see him, but she couldn’t recall where she has seen him. She grabbed her uncle’s hand and asked him instead.
Other than Lee, famous actor Park Won-Sang, who play the prosecutor Han Chul-Ho in the “W: Two World” also makes cameo appearance according to official press release from MBC. Both cameo appearance are expected to boost the drama rating which face a seriously fierce competition from SBS highly anticipated fantasy drama “Legend of the Blue Sea.”
The first episode of “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” aired Nov. 16 was not able to enter the Top 20 list in either TnMS and AGB Nielsen Korea. While “Legend of the Blue Sea” climb high to the 4th position in both ratings and tallied 15.4 percent in TnMs and 16.4 percent in AGB Nielsen Korea.
Cameo appearance of the characters from MBC’s most successful drama is not even able to lift the rating to Top 20 position. However, the captivating story about the life of athlete in their training camp, mixed with romance and comedy surrounding their life may give “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” a chance to increase its rating.
