Lyricist for one of SHINee's hits issues apology for sexist lyrics

Songwriter Eana Kim is famous for her lyrics and has made an excellent contribution to the Korean music industry. She has got various works and albums to her credit. She has been involved in making music videos and is one in K-pop who looks as if she knows where she is heading and how she wants her material to look.

Eana Kim was in the news recently, as she responded to commentator's calling her out for "sexist" lyrics. She confirmed on November 15 that she wrote the lyrics for SHINee's "If You Love Her." She also uploaded that on her personal Instagram account. Things were going on smoothly but all of a sudden, it took a different turn.

The famous lyricist found herself in an awkward situation for penning the supposedly "sexist" lyrics in SHINee's song. She received negative comments about an individual phrase used in the song. Some of the netizens pointed out that in the song the line "Cherish her more than you would a flower" was discriminatory against women.

In response, Eana Kim posted on her personal account and she said, "Many listeners pinpoint sexist expressions in songs. I have tried to be more and more careful but I slip up regularly, and it makes me realize how deeply rooted the problem is."

She described the criticisms as a "healthy phenomenon" for lyricists like her to be careful about sexism in their work. She ended the statement with a promise, "I am going to try to become a lyricist that thinks more about the stereotypes of men and women."

In the Korean music industry, Eana Kim is famous for her lyrics. Brown Eyed Girls' "Abracadabra" and "Good Day," and Suzy and Baekhyun's "Dream" are some of her famous works.

Her collaboration with SHINee for "If You Love Her" was included in their repackaged album "1 and 1."
