Psy's next big promotional undertaking will be a performance on American Idol later this week.

Psy is still in the midst of his international promotional tour for his latest single, and "Gangnam Style" follow-up, "Gentleman." He has been on all sorts of television programs, such as the Today Show and Kelly and Michael, but he is about to add one more TV appearance to the list - the season finale of American Idol.

For the final episode of the reality singing competition's twelfth season, Psy will take to the main stage to perform "Gentleman" live.

American Idol already draws a large percentage of the primetime viewership and the final episode is expected to have one of the highest ratings of the season. The May 16 episode not only will feature the world famous Korean rapper, but the competition's winner will be revealed as well.

Appearing on the American Idol finale is an exceptional honor for Psy as only the most prominent and popular artists are featured on the last episode. Both Beyonce and Lady Gaga have appeared on the show's final episode of the season.

What is more, the high-profile live television appearance is expected to increase Psy's presence and popularity on social media and will likely improve his rankings on the Billboard music charts. Not to mention the obvious, spreading "Gentleman" through such a popular program is likely to further increase his name recognition and record sales.
