2PM Singer Nichkhun Thanks Band, Fans For Sticking By Him After His July DUI: 'To The Many People I Disappointed, I'm Sorry' He Says

2PM Singer Nichkhun thanked his fans and his band for sticking by him in the wake last summer's drunk driving changes, in Wednesday's episode of the South Korean television program "Radio Star."

"To the many people who I disappointed, I'm sorry," Nichkhun said. "I will do my best so that things like this won't happen again."

Nichkhun was joined by his 2PM bandmates Jun. K, Taecyeon, Wooyoung, Junho and Chansung, according to the website allkpop.

When the "Radio Star" host asked Nichkhun why his management allowed him to drive on the evening of July 24, when his car collided with a motorcyclist; he didn't allow his people to take the blame.

"I just foolishly drove," Nichkhun explained about the decision that led to his DUI.

"I tried not to ruin the atmosphere of the celebratory party by quietly leaving by myself. I was getting tired so I was planning to drive back home."

Police later found Nichkhun to have a 0.056 percent alcohol level, CJ E&M enewsWorld reports.

The 24-year-old K-pop star reportedly settled with the motorcyclist out of court, one week later.

"We were in the middle of preparing for our album," Jun K. recalled. "Nichkhun was having such a hard time so we couldn't even blame him."

Nichkhun thanked the rest of 2PM for not giving into pressure from executives from their record label JYP Entertainment to proceed without him.

"Although our agency had plans to promote as a five-member subunit without me, my members stayed loyal by rejecting the offer until the end," he said.

In the 2PM television special that aired on Saturday, Nichkhun, who was born in the US but grew up in Thailand, opened up about the guilt he felt about the drunk driving incident.

"I thought that I wasn't even a person," he said.

"Despite being a foreigner, the fans have accepted and loved me, and I have only betrayed and given them disappointment. I wondered how much pain the fans were in because of me."

Nichkhun, whose real name is Nitchakhun Horawetchakun, and who also goes by Nichkhun Horvejkul, faced severe fan backlash for the DUI charges.

The incident also led to Nichkhun's image getting dropped from several South Korean advertising campaigns.

The singer recalled returning to the dormitory where he lives with his 2PM bandmates after his accident last summer, not even able to speak.

"I was so sorry that I couldn't say anything," he said.
