Wonder Girls Disbands! JYP Reveals Reason Behind Disbandment After A Decade Of Wonderful Music

Wonder Girls disbands after a decade of producing LSS-worthy (Last Song Syndrome) singles. The South Korean girl group's agency has confirmed the dire news on Thursday.

The popular girl group behind hit titles including "Nobody" and "Why So Lonely" are parting ways after some of the member's contract expired. Apparently, out of the four members, only Yubin and Hyerim renewed their contracts with JYP Entertainment. According to Yonhap News, Yeeun and Sunmi have opted against renewing their contracts and are off to pursue something new.

The same report reveals that Wonder Girls will release one last single next month as a way of showing their appreciation to their supportive fans. The final single will be released on Feb. 10, which is also the girl group's 10-year anniversary.

JYP Entertainment has released a statement on Jan. 26, sharing a brief explanation to the girl group's fans. The statement explains that the popular group will be disbanding. In addition, Yubin and Hyerim have renewed their contracts and will try new fields such as acting and hosting. However, Yenny and Sunmi have chosen to leave the label altogether. Ultimately, the Wonder Girls will be working on a final song that will be released on the group's 10th anniversary.

It seems that Wonder Girls will follow the footsteps of another girl group that disbanded earlier this year, 2NE1. The girl group will also release a final song, or as others may put it, a farewell single. Fans can expect the single to be released on Feb. 10 while the Wonder Girls members share their heartfelt messages to their fans through a video.
