KBS Bans Lee Hiyori's 'Bad Girls' For Star's Portrayal Of Herself As A School Girl Malcontent [VIDEO]

Executives from the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), announced Friday that they were banning South Korean K-pop superstar Lee Hiyori's new music video "Bad Girls" from being broadcast on their network.

"Certain parts of Lee Hyori's music video for "Bad Girls" were problematic, so we decided it was unsuitable for broadcast," read the KBS statement.

The scenes in "Bad Girls" that pushed executives from the state-run network over the edge, were a young Lee Hyori using a slingshot on a female teacher for slacking on the job and the portrayal of a male teacher acting in a sexually inappropriate way towards her while she is writing on the chalkboard, according to the website allkpop.

But for South Korean fans of K-pop's favorite "Bad Girl," hoping to see the video on KBS, don't fear.

"Lee Hyori's label edited the problematic scenes and they have resubmitted the video for review," the statement continued. "We're going to be reevaluating the video after watching the edited music video."

One network spokesperson claimed it was just a way of making the video more appropriate for people of all ages.

"We have decided to edit it so that it may be able to be viewed by everyone," said the network rep.

The incident is not the Queen of K-pop's first experience with government censorship.

Back in 2010, KBS banned the music video for Lee Hiyori's "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," because it contained the disobedience of traffic laws.

Korean media company Mnet Media also banned the video.

"Reasons given [by KBS] include Hyori was seen driving a truck without her seat belt fastened on, dancers were dancing on top of the buses and Hyori and the dancers were dancing on the road," read an official Mnet statement at the time.

"All these scenes were inappropriate and violate road traffic regulations."

Yet, this time around Mnet appears to be on Lee Hiyori's side.

On the afternoon of May 22, the day after her fifth album "Monochrome" was released, the star performed in her own special on the network.

Entitled the "2Hiyori Show" the Mnet special ironically featured a performance of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," a moment that probably felt pretty good for Lee.

And considering that the "Bad Girls" video recently surpassed a million YouTube views, Lee can't be feeling too bad about her most recent KBS ban.
