Kang Daniel and LM Enterttainment Reach Agreement, End Seven-Month Legal Dispute

The seven-month dispute ended with the agreement between singer Kang Daniel and his agency LM Entertainment.

On September 27th, the Korea Entertainment Management Association announced that the agreement was concluded through their mediation and that the dispute on the exclusive contract was ended.

"Kang Daniel and LM Entertainment made a decision to avoid unnecessary issues or additional damages caused by the prolonged dispute in the dialogue process," said the association. "LM Entertainment has agreed to acknowledge and recognize Kang Daniel's new agency and new activities. The decision was made to help the entertainment industry develop in mutual cooperation between artists and the company."

"The two parties shall withdraw their application for suspension of the effect of the exclusive contract filed to Seoul Central District Court and the company's claim filed to Seoul Supreme Court.

It also emphasized that the two sides agreed through this reconciliation that they would not take any objection or take any action, including filing a civil or criminal case after mutual agreement.

The conflict between the two sides was announced last February. Kang Daniel posted on his SNS on February 3 to announce that he was in dispute with his agency. His legal representative, Yulchon, filed an application for suspension of exclusive contract to the Seoul Central District Court on March 21 against LM.

LM Entertainment has opposed to Kang Daniel, complaining and disputing the decision to dispose of the claim.

In the process, Kang Daniel founded Connect Entertainment and began his entertainment activities. In July, he released his solo debut album and took part in overseas fan meeting tours.
