Who says boys and girls can't be just friends? These ten pairs of idol besties beg to differ!
1. SHINee's Key and BoA
Key has stated in the past that BoA is the reason why he chose to pursue an idol career. When he got into SM Entertainment, he was too shy to approach her and never tried talking to her despite bumping into her in the halls. He stated that he thought that by keeping his distance, he was showing respect.
In 2018, the two co-stared together on the show "Keyword BoA". There, he explained why he avoided her and that he was a huge fan of her. BoA expressed her shock, saying that she wished they talked and became friends sooner, confiding that she often feels lonely at the company since she is a senior artists with no members as she is a soloist.
The two have become super close, with BoA even visiting and having lunch with Key during his military enlistment!
2. EXID's Hani and Super Junior's Heechul
Hani and Heechul first met on the 2015 KBS show "A Style For You" and though they were initially awkard with one another, the two were able to get close and bond throughout the show. They met once again when they become temporary MC's for MBC's "Weekly Idol". Many fans note the chemistry between the two, showing off their cute charm and blooming friendship.
The two are so close that they once slept together platonically and are known amongst fans as the "Hee Siblings"! Hani once revealed that Heechul's name on her phone is saved as "Daddy Long-Leg" because of how Heechul would help Hani during her hard times.
3. ASTRO's Moonbin and GFRIEND's SinB
The pair have been besties even before they made their debuts as idols! In fact, SinB and Moonbin grew up together, living in apartment buildings right next to each other! Pre-debut photos show the two modelling together for children's clothing brands and even went to the same dance academy. The two's friendship hasn't slowed down and the two aren't shy about showing how they are total BFF goals!
SinB has shown her love for Moonbin, promoting ASTRO and asking fans to support him in the "Thanks to" of one of GFRIEND's albums, adding that she has given her strength and that she loves him.
4. Eric Nam and f(x)'s Amber
As both artists came to Korea from America to pursue their dream of being an artist, it's no suprise the two are total besties! The two have been good friends for years, with Eric Nam even appearing on Amber's YouTube channel. Amber in turn has appeared on Eric Nam's podcast "K-Pop Daebak" as well as his show "Hwaiting!" Eric even featured on Amber's song "I Just Wanna", released in 2016.
Eric Nam is also one of the first few people who watched the music video for Amber's song "Other People" and was even filmed reacting to her steamy kiss scene! To add to that, the two have a marriage pact if ever they can't find love elsewhere, but Amber made sure to clarify that it's purely a business relationship! If that's not friendship, then what is?
5. GOT7's Bambam and BLACKPINK's Lisa
Like SinB and Moonbin, Bambam and Lisa are also childhood friends! Back in Thailand, both idols were part of the same dance group before joining their respective companies. Bambam himself has stated that the two have known each other for over twelve years! Despite being the same age, Bambam has stated that he calls Lisa "noona" (older sister) since she was always taller than him when they were kids. Their families also appears close, as Bambam's mother told fans that they visited YG Entertainment while the two were trainees. Bambam's sister also posted a picture of her and Lisa to congratulate her debut with BLACKPINK.
Now that they are active as idols, the two often bump into each other in music shows and events. Bambam has stated that they live close to each other in Korea and often hang out. The male idol has been very open with his friendship with Lisa, posting photos she took of him onto his Instagram and voiced out his support for her when she was being attacked by racists comments after the 33rd Golden Disk Awards.
Bambam and Lisa are also friends with other Thai idols, including CLC's Sorn and 2PM's Nichkhun. Lisa is also close with (G)I-DLE's Thai member Minnie. Additionally, Bambam is friends with WayV's Ten.
6. OH MY GIRL's Seunghee and BTS's V and Jimin
Okay, this is a trio, but we had to add them since the three of them are total friendship goals! OH MY GIRL's Seunghee once reveals on "IDOL AGENCY" that she was high school classmates with BTS's V and Jimin, and that they are still friends to this day and greet each other when they see one another. She also added in her The Star profile that her closest friends are "High school friends, V and Jiminie!"
Fancams also show V and Jimin cheering for Seunghee during OH MY GIRL's performance for the EDaily Culture Awards. Videos show her trying her best not to laugh during the performance, and it's assumed that it's because she noticed her besties cheering her on!
7. NCT Dream's Jeno and CLC's Yeeun
These two idols met and became good friends while MCing MTV's "The Show". The two are often seen teasing each other on stage, and many agree that the two have amazing chemistry.
Yeeun was once asked, between VICTON's Byungchan, Song Yuvin, Kim Kookheon, and Lee Sejin (who all participated on "PRODUCE X 101"), whose eye smile make her eyes flutter the most. Without even giving the other guys a chance, she bypassed them all and said Jeno's eyesmile makes her flutter. There wasn't even a moment of hesitation!
8. Jeon Somi and AB6IX's Lee Daehwi
Dubbed as the Nation's Best Friends, these two idols are not shy about their friendship! The two met as trainees under JYP Entertainment, when Somi was in the 6th grade and Daehwi in first-year middle school, which means they have known each other for most of their lives! Despite not having the best first impressions of one another - with Somi saying that she thought Daehwi was a nerd and Daehwi saying he initially thought Somi was cold - the two were able to bond and become close!
Both have said that they helped each other through dark times, and they both supported one another in their respective Produce seasons. The two have also done a Fanta CF together!
9. CL (formerly of 2NE1) and BIGBANG's G-Dragon
Both these artists made their debut with YG Entertainment, and they aren't shy showing off their friendship! Not only do they have Instagram posts featuring one another, G-Dragon himself once said in a livestream that he considers CL as his closest "little sister"... but he also jokingly adds that she's the most annoying! The two often express how they miss one another and how they even visit each other during their downtime. The two have also worked together on a handful of stages and performances.
10. (G)I-DLE's Yuqi and WayV's Lucas
The two first made their appearance together on the JTBC variety show "Knowing Bros", in which they appeared for their foreigners special! Though the two already seemed friendly with one another during the show, they reached full-fledged bestie status when they were confirmed as cast members for "Keep Running", the Chinese version of "Running Man". On the show, the two aren't afraid to tease and make fun of each other, showing off their friendly bond. In fact, fans have dubbed the duo the "XiQi Siblings" due to their friendship!
