Former Girl Group Member That Debuted in 2015 Is Charged With Fraud

A former member of a K-Pop girl group that made its debut in 2015 has been accused of fraud.

Recent reports say that Ms. A, who was previously active as a girl group member, met the complainant, a male, through social media in December 2018. She then borrowed approximately ₩50,000,000 ($44,800) from the man. Ms. A stated that she would be using the money for her daily expenses. But then, she ended her communication with him after she couldn't return it, according to the complainant.

Based on the official complaint filed to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, Ms. A asked the man to provide her money for about a year starting from April 2019, so he gave her a total of 49 million won for her everyday needs.

Media outlets then contacted the agency of the girl group member. The label responded that her contract with them has already come to an end and that she would not be taking part in any group activities anymore. The company also said that they were unable to give a statement regarding the issue as it has something to do with the personal life of Ms. A.

It was further reported that Ms. A made her debut in 2015 as part of a K-Pop girl group and just recently ended her career as a singer. Other details about the former K-Pop idol were not specified. Meanwhile, the female acts who debuted in 2015 include Playback, MyB, APRIL, DIA, OH MY GIRL, WANNA.B, and CLC.

Playback is consists of five members who debuted under Clear Company on June 25, 2015, with the digital track titled 'Playback.' The members' last appearances was in the reality show MIXNINE.

MyB is made up of six members who were managed by Maroo Entertainment. They began their career on August 25, 2015, with the single 'My Oh My.' The group disbanded on December 16, 2016.

APRIL is one of the artists under DSP Media and is initially composed of eight members. The band entered the music scene on August 2, 2015, with the extended play 'Dreaming.' Somin left on November 9 that same year because she was uncomfortable with the concept, while Hyunjoo left on October 29, 2016, to pursue an acting career.

DIA is originally a ten-member girl group that started their singing career on September 17, 2015, with the album 'Do It Amazing.' Seunghee departed from the group in April 2016, Eunjin left in May 2018 due to health issues, and Jenny withdrew from the band in July 2019 because of her knee injury.

OH MY GIRL has eight members when they debuted on April 20, 2015, with the EP 'Oh My Girl.' JinE left the group in October 2017 because of her health condition. Meanwhile, WANNA.B joined the K-Pop industry on July 20, 2015, with the song 'My Type.' In 2019, Zenith Media Contents revealed that the members are not signed with them anymore.

On the other hand, CLC still has its original seven members, Seunghee, Yujin, Seungyeon, Sorn, Yeeun, Elkie, and Eunbin. The female act just launched its third single 'Helicopter' on September 2 this year.
