GOT7 Mark Reveals the Moment He Wanted to be a Singer

Recently on April 2, fashion magazine Cosmopolitan shared a new video on their Youtube channel. Their latest video features GOT7 member and solo artist, Mark - also known as Mark Tuan - as he hilariously interviews himself as part of the magazine's "Nobody Asked" series.

In particular, during the interview, Mark asks himself what was the moment he knew that being a singer was something that he wanted to do in the future.

To this, Mark explains South Korea's training system, and that he had to showcases performances on stage as a former trainee of JYP Entertainment.

"I was actually in Korea training. In Korea, we go through this training program. And every six months, they would put us on stage and have us perform," Mark said.

He then shares that he enjoyed the feeling of preparing and doing a performance.

"It wasn't until my first time performing on stage that I really enjoyed the feeling of preparing a whole entire performance and showing what we prepared," Mark explains.

He adds that he felt very accomplished and had a lot of dun doing it, which made him know for sure that being a singer was what he wanted to do.

"I just felt very accomplished and I had a lot of fun. So, I think that was when I realized this is something I wanted to do," the GOT7 member said.

Mark Candidly Shares the Most Difficult Thing He Experienced as an Idol Trainee

Mark then asked himself what was the hardest moment he had to overcome as a trainee.

To this, Mark reveals it was the whole training process he went through in Korea, and explains that he didn't have any musical background, he wasn't a dancer, nor did he know the language.

"Being in Korea, having to learn a different language that I have never spoken before, having to learn sing, dance, and rap. I felt like I was lacking a lot compared to everybody else that was there," Mark said.

He continued, saying that he "just felt like he didn't fit in."

In fact, Mark also reveals that he thought of retiring from making music. "After moving back [to the United States] last year, I really thought about just giving up and not working on music anymore. I don't know if it was because I wanted to take a break or if I was completely done," Mark said.

He adds that he was glad he didn't give up his music career, and that he is having a lot of fun right now making music, and that he feels like he still has a lot he wants to show to everyone.

Meanwhile, the seven GOT7 members parted ways with JYP Entertainment back in January 2021. Since then, each of the members have been focusing on their respective solo careers, with Mark returning to his hometown in Los Angeles.
