"Rock With You" hitmakers SEVENTEEN collaborated with multinational tech company, Apple, and is set to drop their new digital single "Darl+ing" on April 15 as part of the collaboration. In addition to this, fans can also join the Music Lab SEVENTEEN Remix campaign by playing the song on their Apple devices.
Recently on April 7, the Apple Store launched their latest branch in Myeongdong, Seoul, where SEVENTEEN made an appearance to promote their collaboration.

Just like any event, SEVENTEEN fans, known as CARATs, attended the event as well to show their support for the boy group. While the media presentation was being held, CARATs had to wait outside of the Apple Store, to which their staff provided fans with water.

However, as CARATs were peacefully waiting for the media presentation to finish, one of the Korean reporters invited to cover the event is drawing flak from fans.
According to the CARATs present, the reporter had reportedly snapped a quick photo of the crowd before entering the venue. He shared it to his Twitter account which is linked to his journalist identity.
While the action may seem innocent and simple, it was how the reporter had worded his caption and irresponsibly shared the photo.

One netizen on the online community forum The Qoo had shared the reporter's post. Althouh the original tweet has since then been deleted on Twitter, the netizen was able to take a screenshot and re-upload it on the forum.
According to the netizen, they had censored the CARATs' faces before sharing the screenshot, as the reporter had failed to do so when sharing it - eventually exposing the CARATs' faces online.
Along with the reporter's post, he added the caption "SEVENTEEN fans are crowding outside the Apple Store now." Although the English translation of the tweet seemed fine, Korean native speakers pointed out that the reporter had actually used words with negative nuances.

One fan explained the difference between the two Korean words, "몰려들었다" and "모였다," which both mean "to gather." However, the reporter had used "몰려들었다," which has a negative nuance and its meaning is closer to "flocked."
Based on this, CARATs believe that the reporter was implying and reinforcing the thought that fans gather and cause trouble for their favorite idols in public spaces. This led many to be angered by the reporter's portrayal of fans.
Some comments from netizens read: "This is why you hear people call you a trash journalist."
"Seriously, what did that reporter think the event was for?"
"Seems like you like to take illegal photos," and similar others.
Currently, the reporter has not addressed the situation.
