DKZ Sees 40 Times Increase in First-Day Sales Compared to Their Previous Record

DKZ has broken their first-day sales record almost 40 times with "CHASE EPISODE 2. MAUM,"  compared to their previous one.

DKZ's "CHASE EPISODE 2. MAUM" Achieves Group's Highest First-Day Sales To Date

On April 12, DKZ (formerly known as DONGKIZ) made their much-awaited return with a new single album entitled "CHASE EPISODE 2. MAUM" alongside the music video for the title track "Cupid."

"CHASE EPISODE 2. MAUM" marks DKZ's first music release after they were rebranded and welcomed three new members, namely Mingyu, Sehyeon, and Giseok.

On the day of its release, DKZ's "CHASE EPISODE 2. MAUM" had already sold thousands of copies. This marks the first time for the boy group.

DKZ has only sold less than 1,000 copies with their albums before, so this means they have already set a new record for their highest first-day sales.

As of 2:20 p.m. KST on April 12, the single album had already sold 9,678 copies. It then surpassed 17,000 sales one hour later.

At 5:20 p.m. KST, it exceeded 25,000 copies, a total of 25,537 copies to be exact. DKZ"s "CHASE EPISODE 2. MAUM" ultimately sold 25,693 copies by the end of the day.

Notably, the first-day sales of "CHASE EPISODE 2. MAUM" is nearly 40 times higher than their previous best record of 669 copies set by their third single album "Ego."

Considering the huge gap between the first-day sales of the two aforementioned albums, it is safe to say that DKZ has achieved their breakthrough in the entertainment industry.

Before the album's release, the boy group even broke their record for the highest pre-orders. Their first-day pre-order sales is, in fact, 10 times higher than their previous first-week sales.

When the boy group dropped the album "CHASE EPISODE 1. GGUM" in July 2021, they only sold a total of 1,244 copies in the first week of release.

But, DKZ recorded 17,100 pre-order sales with "CHASE EPISODE 2. MAUM" on the first day alone.

DKZ is gradually garnering recognition and popularity for the first time in four years thanks to the drama "Semantic Error,"  where member Jae Chan was one of the main characters.

DKZ's "Cupid" Enters iTunes Charts Around the World

Meanwhile, the title track of DKZ's new single album "CHASE EPISODE 2. MAUM," titled "Cupid," has debuted on iTunes charts all over the world.

At approximately 1 a.m. KST on April 13, "Cupid" is charting inside the top 10 of iTunes Songs charts in six different countries, such as Taiwan, Norway, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

The song has also landed within the top 70 in other countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Finland, Thailand, Indonesia, Poland, Austria, and New Zealand.

Moreover, DKZ's "Cupid" had debuted at No. 40 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart and No. 194 on the European iTunes Song Chart.

In South Korea, "Cupid" entered at No. 10 on Bugs and No. 187 on Genie as of 7 p.m. KST on April 12. It peaked at no. 4 on Bugs and No. 184 on Genie one hour later.

On MelOn, the title track has surpassed 68,700 streams and 9,700 unique listeners at approximately 9:50 a.m. KST on April 13 - this is the group's highest streams so far.
