On June 6, a new episode of GOT7 Jay B's video collection for DIVE Studios' health and wellness app Mindset was released on YouTube. Titled "A Look Into Jay B's Family & Upbringing," the episode features the "NANANA" songwriter talking about his family and sharing some childhood memories.

When talking about "The Meaning of Family," Jay B described his relationship with his parents and how his parents treated him when he was young. He shared, "I was a good kid who listened to my parents well. My parents were on good terms, so naturally, as I grew up watching a loving relationship, I became a good kid without going astray."

GOT7's leader added that when the three of them got together, his parents let him feel comfortable that he doesn't feel like he was with his parents but with his close friends.
Jay B later touched on his parents disciplining him. "My mother and father disciplined me about what is right and wrong. I think that made me into the person I am today," he stated.

He added that his parents would be really strict whenever he did something wrong, and that they tried to understand many of his mistakes, but they don't like it when he lies to them.
The "TRUTH" singer went on to reveal that there was a time when he was physically disciplined by his parents.

GOT7 Jay B shared, "I'm not sure if I can talk about this, but there was a time when I was physically disciplined to the extent that I questioned if it was acceptable."
Although he didn't give too many details on how he was disciplined at that time, he did reveal the result of it. "I was punished so severely that my eyes were swollen like a cartoon character," the idol said.

As his narration continues, Jay B confessed that he hated his father when he was still a child. He stated, "When I was young, I used to hate my father because he was so strict with me."
However, the reason why his father was strict with him is because Jay B lies to cover up his mistakes, which causes his father to be upset. After learning this, the GOT7 member fully understood his dad's actions towards him.

GOT7Jay B Recalls First Time Meeting His Dad, Seeing Him Cry
Toward the middle of the video, Jay B also recalled the time he first met his father.
"When I recall the moment I met my father for the first time, I was in elementary school. During that time, probably in grade 5 or 6. Looking back, I don't think I resisted him that much," GOT7's leader said.

He then shared that he likes his father because he used to play with him a lot. He added, "I have some fun memories like visiting the valley and catching catfish together."
While there were happy memories, Jay B also had sad ones, and one of them was seeing his father cry. "One day, I came back from school and noticed that my father was drinking in the early afternoon with my mother," he said.

He added that his parents aren't the type of people to do that, so he already knew that something serious had happened.
"My father always used to buy me banana milk whenever I went to school. However, that day, he teared up and said, 'I'm sorry that this is all I can give you because I'm not educated enough,'" he further shared.
After hearing this, GOT7 Jay B also cried and told his father that he's grateful for everything he has and he has nothing to be sorry about. "I told him that he didn't need to apologize to me about our financial circumstances, and he gave me love that was more than enough," he recalled.
