The female K-pop soloist may be using the name "Heize" for her activities in the entertainment industry, but her birth name is actually Jang Dahye.

In an interview with The Star, she revealed how she got her stage name. She told the magazine that she's a fan of American rapper Angel Haze. She also liked how the word "Haze" sounds. She then decided to use "Haze" as her stage name but with a different spelling, "Heize," to match her pronunciation.

When she googled the meaning of "Heize," she found out that it means "making something hot" or "turning something red hot." And she admitted to liking this meaning.
2. Heize's Pre-Debut Story
An interesting fun fact about Heize is that she had to study hard in college and become a top student to get permission from her father, who was against her music activities. She revealed this during her appearance on KBS 2TV's "Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook."

Heize shared that she was an "inefficient student" at first. While she was studying, she was composing music with her friends. The reason she started studying hard is that her father will let her do music. She then successfully became the top student in her department twice out of the 300 students.

After getting permission from her father to go to Seoul to work on music, she had three part-time jobs to earn money for herself as she didn't want to ask help from her parents. She then spent the money she earned on rent and music production. That's how her single "After Wandering Just a Little Bit More" was released in 2014.

Her jobs included working at a cafe, a bakery, and a tuna restaurant. She even passed out flyers at an apartment. At those times, she only bought a lunch box from a convenience store and split it up for three meals.

Crucial Star's label later confirmed the news. However, only a week following that, it was reported that the couple had broken up. TV Report said that the two ended their relationship months before Heize started filming "Unpretty Rapstar 2," and that Heize was shocked by the news stating that she's still in a relationship with the rapper.
