Kim Dongwan Of Shinhwa Secretly Lends Former Manager $25,000: Singer's Talent Agency Denies Knowledge Of Transaction

Tales of talent managers stealing money from the artists they represent are as old as pop music itself.

Yet, one doesn't often hear about pop stars offering to lend their manager's money, particularly to the tune of $25,000.

Yet that is exactly what Kim Dongwan of K-pop's oldest boy band Shinhwa did for his former manager, according to the South Korean website Sports Seoul.

The 33-year-old singer even kept the loan a secret from the rest of his talent agency Liveworks, the company claims.

"The agency didn't know anything about this," a Liveworks representative said on Tuesday.

"When verifying with him after we saw the report, Kim Dongwan was also shocked and said 'it's in the news?'"

The representative claims that for the rest of the Liveworks staff, the generous act veiled in secrecy, is textbook Dongwan.

"People in the agency think 'indeed it's like Kim Dongwan' after seeing the news of his secret good deeds," the rep said.

"Kim Dongwan usually finds it a burden to be seen with an image of a guy who lives uprightly, so he is shocked that news of his good deed appeared... as an agency, we're extremely happy that our artist did a good deed."

The Livewire representative pointed out, the $25,000 loan was not Kim's first random act of kindness.

"This isn't Kim Dongwan's first good deed," the rep said.

"He usually remembers the staff's birthdays, and if they are sick, he'll also present them with red ginseng,"

And the star's charity isn't just restricted to his professional colleagues.

Back in January, Kim donated over $26,000 to the elderly. In March, he made a generous gift to the victims of an earthquake in Japan.

The star's past charitable acts include a $17,000 donation to the victims of a 2009 earthquake in China's Sichuan province and $10,000 given to victims of the North Korean bombardment of Yeonpyeong in 2010, according to Soompi.

Kim's humanitarian record even led to the star winning the "Sharing Person of The Month" from South Korea's Minister of Health and Welfare in 2011.

The singer shared the award with activists everywhere.

"I'm very thankful to receive this reward even though there may be many other people who had done a lot of work for charity," Kim said.

"Sharing with people in charity work makes me happy. I'll try to share with many more people."

No word on whether the Shinhwa singer's manager ever paid back the $25,000 loan.
