NCT's 'RESONANCE' Makes History on Oricon Chart Two Years After Release

NCT's "RESONANCE" has achieved an incredible feat on the Oricon Chart even after two years since its release. In fact, only a few K-pop artists have reached that milestone. Keep reading for further details.

NCT's 'RESONANCE' Makes History on Oricon Chart Two Years After Release

"RESONANCE" is NCT's second studio album as a full group. The release features all 23 members including the 21 existing members from NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV, plus the two new members Sungchan and Shotaro.

The full album was released in two parts back in 2020. Part 1 came out on Oct. 12, while Part 2 was dropped on Nov. 23. Both albums were a success, as they each sold more than one million copies in South Korea- earning the group a "double-million seller" title.

NCT's "RESONANCE" was also well-received in Japan. The album's Part 1 debuted at No. 2 on the Oricon Weekly Album chart for the week of Oct. 12 through Oct. 18 with a total of 53,459 units.

The studio album even ranked first on Japan's Line Music's album chart and Rakuten Music's real-time album chart. Not only that but NCT's "RESONANCE" secured No. 55 on the Oricon Year-End Album chart for 2021, demonstrating the South Korean boy group's popularity in the country.

Now, after two years since its release, "RESONANCE" has scored an impressive milestone on the Oricon chart.

On Oct. 19, it was revealed that NCT's "RESONANCE" has now spent a total of 100 weeks on the Oricon chart, which is a very rare achievement for a K-pop album. In fact, NCT is only the sixth Korean artist in history to have at least one album charting for 100 weeks on Oricon.

The first five K-pop acts to attain this feat are BTS, TWICE, TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), SEVENTEEN, and Stray Kids.

Congratulations to NCT!

NCT's Recent Activities

In the past months, the NCT members have been busy carrying out the activities of their respective subunits, NCT 127 and NCT Dream. (WayV is yet to make a comeback.) They are yet to release a new album as a full group again.

On Feb. 28, NCT Dream dropped their second studio album "Glitch Mode." This album notably surpassed two million stock pre-orders and went on to record 2,100,399 physical album sales within one week.

Additionally, "Glitch Mode" debuted at No. 50 on Billboard 200 for the week ending on April 9- marking NCT Dream's first entry on the chart.

"Glitch Mode" was followed by the release of its repackaged version, "Beatbox," on May 30. "Beatbox" sold more than one million copies, making the group a triple-million seller.

Regarding NCT 127's activities, the boys have been holding concerts in different cities around the world as part of their "NEO CITY: THE LINK" world tour. The tour began in December 2021 in Seoul and resumed in May this year in Japan. The group just recently finished the United States leg of their tour (Oct. 6 and 13), and will return to Asia for more concerts there, starting in Seoul, South Korea.

Amid their world tour, NCT 127 released their fourth studio album "2 Baddies" on Sept. 16. The album impressively sold 1.5 million copies in its first week of release, becoming the best-selling album by an SM Entertainment artist.
