BTS Jin's "The Astronaut" has impressively recorded the highest daily sales for a Korean soloist on the Oricon Daily Singles chart in history.

BTS Jin's 'The Astronaut' Achieves Highest Daily Sales for Korean Soloist in Oricon History

On Oct. 28, Jin officially became the second BTS member to release a solo project since the group's debut in 2013. He released his first single album "The Astronaut," which features the title song of the same name.

According to the latest Oricon Daily Singles chart (dated Nov. 5), Jin's "The Astronaut" sold a total of 104,018 copies in its first day. Those numbers earned the single the top spot of the tally.

Not only that, but the project made BTS Jin the first foreign male soloist to debut at No. 1 on the Oricon Daily Singles chart with a first single since Jang Keun Suk in 2011.

Furthermore, "The Astronaut" is now the Korean solo project with the highest daily sales on the Oricon Daily Singles chart in history. This is an impressive feat for a single that was released in only two versions and had less promotions in Japan.

This achievement just goes to show how popular BTS Jin is in the country despite having no solo Japanese releases in the past. As a matter of fact, the physical version of the single was sold out on several outlets of Tower Records.

Additionally, Jin's "The Astronaut" debuted at No. 43 on Billboard Japan Hot 100, while the BTS member reached a new peak of No. 35 on Billboard Japan Artist 100 as of Nov. 2. The idol even achieved the highest debut for a Korean male soloist on the Spotify Top Artist Japan chart; he entered at No. 100.

The song "The Astronaut" is also doing well on the biggest music platforms in Japan, such as Line Music and RecoChoku. It debuted at No. 22 on Line Music's daily chart and went up to No. 15 on Nov. 2. It later entered at No. 23 on Line Music's weekly chart. Whereas on RecoChoku, the track debuted at No. 3 on the daily chart and No. 7 on the weekly tally.

Jin Ties With PSY as Korean Soloist With Highest Debut on UK's Official Singles Chart

In other news, BTS Jin has successfully earned his first solo entry on the United Kingdom's Official Singles chart.

On Nov. 4 local time, Jin's "The Astronaut" landed on multiple UK Official charts. It debuted at No. 61 on the Official Singles chart for the week of Nov. 4 to 10- matching PSY's record for the highest debut by a Korean soloist in history. (PSY's smash hit "Gangnam Style," "Gentleman," and "That That" all entered that tally at No. 61.)

Considering English-language songs, BTS Jin is now tied with PSY for the third-highest debut on the chart by a Korean soloist, following his co-member Jungkook (whose collaboration song with Charlie Puth, "Left and Right," entered at No. 41) and BLACKPINK Rosé (whose solo debut song "On The Ground" debuted at No. 43).

What's more, "The Astronaut" occupied the No. 2 spot on both the Official Singles Sales chart and the Official Singles Downloads chart this week. The song joins BTS V's "Christmas Tree" as the highest-charting song by a Korean soloist on the UK Official Singles Sales chart.

Meanwhile, the music video for the track debuted at No. 55 on the Video Streaming chart.
