TWICE Legacy: Top Girl Group Earns Overwhelming Praises During 2022 MAMA Awards

Third generation's "Nation's Girl Group" TWICE received critical acclaim for bearing their legacy during the 2022 MAMA Awards. In a joint performance, the girl group's impact was one if the highlights of the ceremony.

Generation Transition: Monster Rookies Perform TWICE's 'Cheer Up' 

On November 29, the 2022 MAMA Awards transpired with its performance segment. One of the acts in the ceremony featured an all-girl group assembly performance, consisting of NMIXX, LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, Kep1er, and IVE.

The rookies performed the nostalgic 2016 hit song from powerhouse girl group TWICE, which earned them their first Daesang and propelled them to popularity.

"Cheer Up" is also known for its contagious line "Shy Shy Shy" performed by TWICE member Sana. It transpired a series of idols and fans mimicking the iconic expression. The segment starts off with the girl groups gathered in the stage while performing the viral "Shy Shy Shy" in turns.

Afterwards, the song started, following the groups performing according to their lines and steps. The girl groups gave their best into performing an iconic song, taking on the stage with synchronized movements and charm.

2022 MAMA Awards' choice of song to represent the current generation of girl groups brought a nostalgic feel to ONCEs, expressing their thoughts on the segment.

It was also conveyed how far TWICE has come and achieved in their career. ONCEs mentioned how fast time flies for TWICE by bringing up their rookie-to-seniors journey.

They also pertain to a similar past performance in 2016, where girl groups TWICE, Red Velvet, I.O.I., and GFRIEND performed SNSD's debut title track "Into The New World" in unison.

Even though TWICE have proven their power from time to time, the "Cheer Up" hitmakers have recently proved their mark across K-Pop, enough to represent the new generation of girl groups through their song.
