Red Velvet's 'Birthday' Comeback Gets Compared With Other Songs' Results

On November 28, Red Velvet released their sixth extended play "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Birthday" and their title song "Birthday."

The song was well received by fans and critics, getting the release to sell 392,000 copies on Hanteo, breaking their previous first-day album sales record of 231, 100 in their last comeback "The Reve Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm."

However, others expressed their opinions on the comeback, together with Red Velvet's suspected decline in popularity.

They even compared the title track performance of "Birthday" to other songs released by the 3rd and 4th generations. Some suspected how Red Velvet's groundbreaking prominence is affected by newer K-pop groups and their releases.

"People on enter-talk were talking about how Scientist was a flop, but nobody is talking about them flopping more than Scientist"

Meanwhile, some took the heat towards SM Entertainment fans.

Red Velvet's Comeback Performance & Results Defended By ReVeluvs

ReVeluvs came into the girl group's defense, stating that Red Velvet is already in their long run.

They brought up how a change of generation can get a group's results lower than during their prime, and it's not uncommon for any sunbae group to experience this.

"Why have the anti SM female idols ajumma fans stoop this low? Let's see, RV are already in their f**king long run and this is just a fact. Their core fandom is as strong as ever and RV have achieved so much already. Meanwhile, you guys are desperately trying to bring them down. If we change generation, of course, your results will be lower than during your prime time, this applies to everybody."
