Kang Daehyun Update: Here's Where Former 'The Origin - A, B, Or What?' Contestant Is Now

Kang Daehyun was one of the contestants in the survival show "The Origin - A, B, or What?" However, he was eliminated and didn't get to debut in IST Entertainment's new boy group, which is now called ATBO.

About Former "The Origin - A, B, Or What?" Contestant Kang Daehyun

Kang Daehyun began his training at IST Entertainment, which is home to Apink and The Boyz, alongside ATBO. He was first introduced to the public through the said TV program.

He was a trainee for over two years before participating in "The Origin - A, B, Or What?" He was 18 years old when he appeared on the survival show.

Kang Daehyun's Journey on "The Origin - A, B, Or What?"

In episode 1 of "The Origin," Kang Daehyun was part of Team B, which performed ATEEZ's "HALA HALA." He was part of the vocal line of the team. Team B earned higher points from the on-site audience than Team A, which performed BTS's "MIC Drop."

In episode 2, Kang alongside his fellow Team B members performed GD & T.O.P's "ZUTTER." Unfortunately, his team lost against Team A.

In the same episode, Daehyun was eliminated from "The Origin" because he was part of the losing team and was voted off by the judges.

After being eliminated from the survival show, where could Kang Daehyun have gone? Well, it turned out that he left IST Entertainment and didn't continue his training under the agency.

Former "The Origin - A, B, Or What?" contestant Kang Daehyun is now under Urban Works Entertainment. It's uncertain when he joined the company but Urban Works uploaded his official profile to their Instagram account on Sept. 8.

Urban Works Entertainment was established back in March 2009. It doesn't only specialize in managing celebrities but also in producing broadcast programs and new media contents. Aside from Kang, the company also houses singers such as Kriesha Chu, KCM, and V-Hawk.

Urban Works also manages several actors and actresses such as Byeon Seong Tae, Lee Seo Young, Nam Jihyun, Bong Man Dae, Kim Eun Soo, Oh Jae Woong, among others.

According to the label's official website, Kang Daehyun is signed with them as an actor. But, so far, he is yet to appear in a drama or a film.

'The Origin - A, B, Or What?' Contestant Kang Daehyun to Compete in 'My Teenage Boy'

But even though he is now an actor under Urban Works Entertainment, Daehyun was revealed to be one of the contestants in the upcoming reality survival show "My Teenage Boy: Fantasy Boys," which will be broadcast on MBC. It is scheduled to premiere in February or March of next year.

"My Teenage Boy: Fantasy Boys" is a male version of "My Teenage Girl," which wrapped up in February of this year and formed a new girl group now called CLASS:y (who made their debut in May with "SHUT DOWN").

Like "My Teenage Girl," "My Teenage Boy: Fantasy Boys" also aims to create a new K-pop group. There are currently 14 confirmed participants.
