Where Is Former IZ*ONE Kang Hye Won Now? Here's What We Know

Kang Hyewon is a former IZ*ONE member and Produce 48 contestant. After IZ*ONE's contractual disbandment, here are Hyewon's current whereabouts.

Kang Hye Won Trainee History, Produce 48 Venture & IZ*ONE Journey

Kang Hyewon is a former trainee from companies K Entertainment and HYWY Entertainment.

Afterwards, she joined 8D Entertainment, where she almost debuted on a group called DAYDAY, alongside Produce 101 trainee Lee Suhyun and K-Pop Star participant Jeon Minju.

However, her future endeavors with the group were withdrawn.

Later on, Hyewon was revealed to be joining Produce 48, an MNET survival program featuring 96 contestants from South Korea and Japan.The program was a partnership between Produce 101 and J-pop group AKB48.

Kang Hyewon impressed both viewers and judges with her visual beauty, rap skills and mysterious vibes. On the show, she took part on a performance team with contestants Wang Yiren, Park Haeyoon, Miyawaki Sakura and Takeuchi Miyu.

Hyewon also earned the title "Innocent Rapper" on Produce 48, which suits her personality.

In the show's climax, Hyewon ranked on the 8th place, amassing 248, 432 votes under her belt. This achievement led her to debut in IZ*ONE, one of the best-selling girl groups in K-pop.

On October 29, 2018, Hyewon debuted with IZ*ONE with their first mini album COLOR*IZ. The girl group made headlines with their first title track La Vie en Rose.

The debut title track was followed by "Violeta," "Fiesta," "Secret Story of the Swan," and "Panorama."

IZ*ONE officially disbanded on April 29, 2021, and the members went their separate ways to focus on individual careers, including Hyewon. Other members went back to their companies and groups, while some pursued their plans on being a soloist.

Kang Hyewon's Current Whereabouts & Solo Projects After IZ*ONE Disbandment

Kang Hyewon pursued acting in 2021, starring in dramas such as "Best Mistake: Season 3," and webtoon adaptation "Seasons of Blossom" in 2022.

Aside from acting, Kang Hyewon released a special winter album titled "W" in December 2021. Stone Music Entertainment released its titular track "Winter Poem" on their YouTube channel, giving fans a cozy present from Hyewon.

 

On June 9, 2022, the former IZ*ONE member also made a collab with singer Stella Jang with "Like a Diamond."

 

Hyewon also shared her thoughts in an interview. In a previous issue of magazine Star1, Hyewon shared how she is looking forward to her career as an actress. She also shared how IZ*ONE members are her role models.

"I want to focus on acting and wish to meet fans as soon as possible with a good work. When it comes to role models, my former IZ*ONE bandmates are wonderful friends who I have a lot to learn from."
