BTS Earns RIAJ Platinum Certifications, LE SSERAFIM Goes For Gold

Various artists were honored certifications by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), including K-pop groups BTS and LE SSERAFIM.

The RIAJ applied a brand new certification system in 2020, which is designed to focus on online streaming. This system was added to RIAJ's physical album shipment and digital download sales certification systems.

With RIAJ's extra system, songs are given certifications based on their stream counts, consisting of Silver (30 million streams), Gold (50 million streams) and Platinum (100 million streams).

Initially, RIAJ implemented the Platinum mark at 100 million streams, and Diamond for 500 million. However, a new system was also introduced to honor double Platinum certifications for 200 million streams, and triple Platinum certifications for 300 million.

BTS's "Butter" has now received triple platinum certifications after garnering 300 million streams in Japan. This achievement was followed by their song "Permission to Dance," which gained 200 million streams, earning its double platinum certification from RIAJ.

Furthermore, BTS's hit single "Dynamite" was also included in their platinum collection. In February 28, RIAJ announced that "Dynamite" had surpassed 500 million streams, earning BTS the Diamond certification.

With their latest double Platinum achievement, this makes BTS the only Korean artist with the three highest RIAJ certifications on streaming.

Following the K-pop sensation is fourth-generation act LE SSERAFIM, who has just received an RIAJ Gold certification. The rookie group made this achievement with their song "ANTIFRAGILE" exceeding 50 million streams in Japan, showing off their increasing fanbase.

BTS Jungkook's 'Euphoria' Earns Gold Certification From RIAJ

In other news, BTS Jungkook's "Euphoria" has also become the first BTS solo song to receive Gold from RIAJ.

In December 27, 2021, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), awarded Jungkook's "Euphoria" with a Gold certification after surpassing 50 million streams.

Euphoria was initially released in August 2018, earning its gold cert after receiving so much love from fans locally and internationally.

With this feat, it also marks as the first and only BTS solo release to earn such certification. Aside from Japan, the song also went viral in the United States, smashing 500,000 units sold by a male K-pop artist.

This made the song qualified to receive gold from RIAA, the Recording Industry Association of America.

"Euphoria" also dominated on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart. It also ranked No. 5 on Billboard's Bubbling Under Hot 100, Gaon Chart (No. 11), Official Independent Singles Chart (No. 28), and Official Downloaded Singles Chart (No. 45).

Congratulations to BTS and LE SSERAFIM for these achievements!
