Former NMIXX Jinni 'Potentially' Returns Under Other Agency

On March 20, former NMIXX member Jinni was rumored to sign under YG Entertainment's sub-label, The Black Label, home to Somi, BIGBANG Taeyang, and more.

Recently, Jinni joined Instagram, and her fans were overjoyed. She instantly accumulated over 1 million followers on the said platform. There, instead of using her real name Yun Jin, she still uses her NMIXX stage name in her bio, Jinni.

It seems to show that Jinni will continue her presence in the K-pop industry with the creation of her new account.

Fans were shocked last 2022 when she decided to terminate her contract with JYP Entertainment and left the group for personal reasons after her appearance and NMIXX's last 2022 MAMA Awards.

Theories began to fly without any real explanation behind her departure. The situation sparked heated debate among netizens, but opinions were divided.

Some thought Jinni's emotions at the group's last fan-meeting weeks before were a sign she knew what would happen, while others wondered if the delays in releasing NMIXX's Christmas video meant JYP Entertainment did not know Jinni was leaving.

Above all else, fans hoped that Jinni would return to the stage soon, in whatever form that might be. After all, she trained for six years before making her debut, which fans did not expect her to throw away just months later.

'Evidence' Jinni Signs With The Black Label

Many fans have an unexpected theory based on Jinni's new activities that indicate that she is now associated with YG's The Black Label.

The "evidence" appeared to be circumstantial at first. Fans noticed that producer Teddy states in The Black Label's recent "GIRL GROUP AUDITION" casting call on YouTube that they "just need one more member" for their new girl group. The applicant had to be qualified in 2004 or later - the same year Jinni was born - to qualify.

Fans also shared a video of Jinni hugging Somi during her last appearance at the MAMA Awards. Somi, who is currently a soloist under the sub-label, was a JYP Entertainment trainee and rumored member of ITZY before joining her current agency.

There is a new clue that many wonder if the rumors are true after all.

Jinni was followed by Peter Chun, International Management, Marketing, and Promotion Director at The Black Label, less than a day after establishing her Instagram account. Jinni appears to be the only idol Peter Chun follows beside the members of BLACKPINK.

Moreover, this happened after Park Seohyun (an independent stylist best known for her work with Red Velvet Joy) shared Jinni's photos on her Instagram Stories. Some theorize that Jinni's use of the black heart emoji in her Instagram bio and first Instagram post could be a link to the company.

Of course, these clues aren't solid proof, and there's still no objective evidence that Jinni has joined The Black Label, but fans are sharing their thoughts on social media.

K-pop fans wonder if the label acquired Jinni's existing contract or if she left JYP Entertainment for other reasons before even being scouted by the YG Entertainment company.

Some believe Jinni will become a soloist for the company, while others believe she will debut in their upcoming girl group.
