THIS Disbanded K-pop Group's Debut MV Got Banned by KBS Due to Low Quality

THIS disbanded K-pop girl group made buzz for having their debut MV banned by KBS for having low quality.

Can you guess who they are?

MOA's Debut Song 'I'll Call Ya' Banned by KBS Once for Having Low Quality

Debuting is special for any K-pop group, as it marks the start of a profound career and experience in the music industry: a dream for many idols out there.

There are many iconic debuts in K-pop. Some special mentions include Wanna One's "Energetic," which became a viral craze during 2017, SHINee's "Replay," one of the most legendary songs in K-pop, or miss A's "Bad Girl, Good Girl," which won Song of the Year at the 2010 MAMA Awards.

However, one K-pop group had the unfortunate luck of experiencing circumstances that were out of their control. Disbanded girl group M.O.A debuted on February 20, 2015, under Professional Entertainment with their first single "I'll Call Ya."

With the group's girl crush concept for the song, everything seemed fine and their debut was good to go. Nevertheless, the release would've been immune to problems if it weren't for the production quality, which netizens deemed as lacking.

In their official MV for "I'll Call Ya," the video's visuals, and specifically its camera work, were considered to be all over the place and had consecutive abrupt transitions. The outcome was so jarring, KBS banned it from being broadcasted.

In the video's comments section, netizens reminisced how the MV once made virality due to its production. While some praised the girls for their efforts, they stated the video's visuals, choreography, and camerawork were the most criticized aspects.

  •  "KBS banned this song for poor MV quality, that's just mean."
  •  "It's sad that they practiced for many years to just debut like this, in a crappy entertainment company."
  •  "Sadly, even some dance cover groups have better cinematography and better MV production"
  •  "They're not even bad. They are very talented, but the video quality is not it."
  •  "If feel like the cuts are gonna give me a seizure. These girls deserved so much better."
  •  "I think they just didn't really care and just told them to dance around and then they cut the crap out of all the scenes to make this."

Despite their February debut in 2014, their career was short-lived, as the girl group presumably disbanded due to inactivity. During their career, M.O.A went through several lineup changes.

After releasing their first digital single "Inception" and its title track "I'll Call Ya," M.O.A followed up their second digital single "Inception 1.5," alongside title track "Run For Your Dream" (feat. Yoo Seung Ok). The content was released on March 21, 2014.
