On November 8, Ilgan Sports released the latest episode of the "X why Z" series, where the renowned author Lee Jae Guk from Gen X discusses pop culture with his daughter Lee Yeon Woo, a talented student from Gen Z.

On this day, the main character is SEVENTEEN, a 13-member group who has been on top for about 8 years since they debuted in 2015.
While having too many members is, at times, a disadvantage to K-pop groups, SEVENTEEN showed their power to turn this into their benefit, with the help of their loyalty to one another other.
Due to this, writer Jae Guk asked Yeon Woo about the secret behind SEVENTEEN's fame.
She responded:
"Before watching SEVENTEEN's stage, people expressed their worries such as, 'If there are 13 members, there would be too many people and the stage will be sloppy."
However, SEVENTEEN proved all these assumptions to be wrong.
"Because there are 13 members, it makes the song richer, and with the 13 members, the message of the song can delivered better."
Their high-quality music also helped. The group is popular for being self-produced, and each of their releases never failed to leave an impact on listeners, even non-fans.
"Even if SEVENTEEN's performances are not necessarily large-scale concerts, they seem to leave a deep impression on people, even if they are performed only once at music broadcasts or events.
Many people also say they have listened to SEVENTEEN songs even though they don't know K-pop well. That's how SEVENTEEN has consistently released songs and always performed high-quality songs to their fans."
Reason SEVENTEEN Is Popular Among International CARATs
While SEVENTEEN is also popular in Korea, its reach among global international fans is truly overwhelming. From children to old music fans, the group is greatly admired.
Regarding this, writer Jae Guk's daughter implied that on top of SEVENTEEN's top-tier songs and skills, what made them stand out better was the members' chemistry.
"Amazingly, all 13 members are close, and I think it's only fun when all 13 of them gather together.
Even fans of other artists watch the group's content, "GOING SEVENTEEN." (I think) male idol content became more popular thanks to SEVENTEEN, and more idols follow along. In order for the team itself to make people happy and give positive energy like SEVENTEEN, the team must all be happy and positive first."
In addition to the members' chemistry and closeness, Yeonwoo also highlighted SEVENTEEN's consistency.
"It's hard to be good at anything once, but it's harder to be consistently good at it. SEVENTEEN has been doing well for eight years since its debut.
Like the group name SEVENTEEN, it seems that the members' appearance and energy remain the same (17 years old), and only the concept changes every time.
The professional spirit that devotes itself to one's work and is sincere is called "craftmanship," and SEVENTEEN seems to be the best idol in the K-pop scene.
