TWS Members' Visuals Revealed— Here's Why They Are Drawing Mixed Reactions

The members of PLEDIS Entertainment's upcoming boy group TWS have been revealed. While many are excited about their upcoming debut, the visuals of the members have drawn mixed reactions.

TWS Member Line-Up Unveiled

On January 2, HYBE Labels released "TWS (투어스) Prologue 'Oh Mymy : 7s'" to their official YouTube channel. There, the faces of the six TWS members were revealed.

The members were revealed to be Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, and Jihoon. The group is comprised of members born from 2003 to 2007. This is PLEDIS Entertainment's first boy group since SEVENTEEN's debut in 2015.

In the prologue film, the members spoke about training and practicing together. They showed off their close brotherhood and their determination to show K-pop fans an unforgettable performance.

The prologue also showed the members performing in front of HYBE higher-ups and in various different locations, proving their skills despite being rookies.

TWS Members' Visuals Draw Mixed Reactions

Following the publication of TWS's prologue film, many Korean internet users took to social media and community forums to share their opinions.

One post titled "PLEDIS' new boy group TWS members revealed" went viral on South Korean forums. There, the author published several photos of the members, as well as revealed their names.

While many are anticipating their debut, the visuals of the seven soon-to-be idols drew varied responses.

Some were disappointed, saying that their visuals were not up to par with the standards of other fifth-generation rookies. Others commented that even idols from small to mid-size companies have better looks than them. Despite that, they are destined to succeed since they are under HYBE.

Some comments read,

  • "They look even worse than idols from mid-size companies..."
  • "Wow, even with these visuals, they are from a big company so they will do well..."
  • "Wow, they are debuting under HYBE?"

Others, however, defended the rookie group. They stated the photos did not do them justice and they look better on video. Others were confident that the members would find styles that suited them once they started promoting, and that even SEVENTEEN went through an awkward phase during their debut era.

Many also expressed how excited they were to see their performance since they are succeeding SEVENTEEN, a group famous for their powerful and synchronized choreography.

  • "I am seriously looking forward to their stages since they will succeed SEVENTEEN."
  • "But I never thought SEVENTEEN was handsome when they debuted... They will look better once they start promoting."
  • "They will find a style that suits them as they promote, right?"
