On January 22, 2024, private messages sent by ATEEZ member Wooyoung went viral on X (formerly Twitter). In the photo, the idol states he is "into vapes these days." He even sent a heart eyes emoji after sending the message!

However, it appears he realized what his message looked like for international fans and backtracked. It turns out he was not talking about vapes; instead, he was talking about the Japanese fashion brand BAPE, also known as A Bathing Ape. His stress was apparent; he even stated he should just say it in English!

The confusion is due to the fact that the Korean language does not have a separate letter for the consonants B and V. That means in Korea, vape and BAPE are spelled the same way: 베이프. Because of this, the idol's message was mistranslated by Papago.
