Amid praises (G)I-DLE Soyeon is getting for singing the high note introduction of title track "Super Lady," some covered their ears and complained that it's "noisy." 

(G)I-DLE Soyeon Gains Admiration for High-Note Introduction of 'Super Lady'

On January 39, the girl group (G)I-DLE dropped their second studio album, "2," including the lead track, "Super Lady."

On February 1, the five members made their first comeback music show appearance on Mnet's "M Countdown" and earned applause for its high-quality setup, outfits and performance, viewers could mistake it for a scene from an arena concert.

While all of the members shone in their own unique ways during the stage, Soyeon drew massive attention for her introduction where she sang the line, "I am the top, super lady," in a high-pitched tone.

It became a hot topic even more that the group's main producer and main rapper, Soyeon, was actually the one who hit the high-note introduction, not its main vocalists Miyeon and Minnie.

In this regard, Minnie revealed through a YouTube show that she seriously wanted to perform the introduction; however, she failed as the note was beyond her range. Miyeon also tried for the lines but failed as well. In the end, Soyeon who was the only one who could reach the notes decided to perform it instead.

After the comeback stage, various opinions poured out watching Soyeon's high-note intro, which became even hotter after watching her perform it via live broadcast.

Amid this background, many netizens reacted to Soyeon's new challenge and chose it as the song's "killing part." They looked at her fondly and praised the idol saying:

• "It's a range that only Soyeon can sing."
•  "You sang the intro well."
• "Killing part from the beginning."
• "I liked it because it was cool."
• "Focused and cool."
• "The most memorable part."
• "Soyeon's voice range is really good."

'Noise'? Reason Netizens Didn't Like Soyeon's Intro in 'Super Lady'

On the other hand, people who had a strong interest in (G)I-DLE's existing main vocalists, such as Miyeon and Minnie, said it was uncomfortable to listen to it.

They complained that Soyeon usually does a song visualizing how the members would sing it; thus, they accused her of not really wanting the vocalists to perform it but her. They implied that she could easily tone it down to match the vocal range of the other singers.

Thus, they expressed regret over the introduction, saying:

• "It's a barrier from the beginning."
• "It's burdensome and noisy."
• "What are you doing with the main vocalist?"
• "It hurts my ears so much."
•  "The music style doesn't match with the trend these days."

On the other hand, (G)I-DLE had to suspend some of their promotion activities after Yuqi and Minnie announced poor health conditions. Thankfully, fans can still watch the music show appearance they filmed ahead of the broadcast.
