Lee Hyori's remark to a host didn't sit well with viewers. Immediately, people called her out for her "rude" attitude.

Lee Hyori Raises Brows for 'Rude' Remark

On February 7, the OG "Nation's Fairy" and first-gen icon Lee Hyori appeared as the special guest for the web show, "Super Market Sora," hosted by model and radio DJ Lee Sora.

There, the K-pop icon went on to reveal her relevant experiences in the music and entertainment industry for 26 years, but in the process, Lee Hyori received backlash for making THIS remark to Sora.

In particular, the scene that made viewers uncomfortable was when the MC was saying how grateful she was to the icon for coming to her show, only to receive such a reply from Lee Hyori.

At the time, Lee Sora, who revealed that she personally invited Hyori, understandingly expressed:

"To be honest, it wouldn't even be weird if you decided not to come to the show, like if you told me, 'Unnie, I can't make it to that schedule'."

As a response, Lee Hyori said:

"I really dislike it when when the host directly calls me to cast me, because even if I want to say no, it's difficult to say no.

I think the right thing to do is to recruit me through my company, then I would have refused to do it."

K-Netz React To Lee Hyori's Attitude

When this specific part went viral in various online communities, K-netizens slammed Lee Hyori, claiming that she "has always been rude."

• "She's always been rude... even to Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Wan Sun. But all of these are being buried because of the cult 'worshiping' her as if she's a god."
• "But what's surprising to me is that even though she couldn't reject someone's job offer, she can actually say something like that in front of someone's face."
• "Her personality is strange, it seems like she's so full of herself."
• "Damn, I hate it when people pretend to be so pleasant but wouldn't dare hesitate when saying hurtful things to others."
• "Why would you say that amid recording? I completely understand what you are trying to say, but you can just say that later in private."

In contrast, Lee Hyori's fans explained that she didn't mean to be rude.

"I like Lee Hyori because she is straightforward only to strong-minded people. She only said this to Lee Sora, who doesn't mind hearing comments like that. If a rookie calls her shaking, she would never say something like that, based on Lee Hyori's personality."

The fan continued:

"In fact, it is true that Lee Sora should cast (people) through the company, and it's better if she hears it from her junior and fix it like that. Who talks back to that distant senior? It's Lee Hyori so she doesn't care. And Lee Sora is sincerely grateful for Lee Hyori's appearance that I don't understand why it would be unpleasant from the viewers' perspective."

The fan concluded:

"Lee Hyori's personality is both strong and weak. It's really not easy to live so justly in society. If you just see her intention instead of criticizing her, you would realize there's no need to hate on Lee Hyori."
