Swings Explains The Recent K-Hip-Hop Diss Track Battle, 'I Have No Regrets'

After a week of back and forth tracks released dissing fellow Korean rappers, the hip hop scene in South Korea has quieted down. But in the aftermath of the heated battle, many are left wondering what the long term effects will be.

Swings, the rapper who started it all with his track "King Swings" directed at former Supreme Team member Simon D, called an end to the feud a couple days ago and has now opened up about the motivation behind it and where he plans to go from here.

On August 29 Swings was a guest on Shindong's ShimShimTaPa radio show and said he has no regrets about throwing the first punch.

"I don't regret it, but I didn't expect such a storm," he said.

Explaining himself further the rapped went on, "When I get angry, I speak in a coarse manner. But I normally have a timid personality... Because I cursed others out through my diss [tracks], others can curse at me too."

When Shindong asked if all the negativity made it hard to sleep, Swings admitted it was. He also said that he suffered attacks from many fans and netizens.

"Through this controversy, I think I've been called 'pig' 5 million times."

Even though he says starting the diss battle was not something he regrets doing, Swings did offer an apology to his friend E-Sens and rapper JTONG as well as the CEO of his agency Brand New Music, Rhymer.

Addressing E-Sens and JTONG Swings said, "I think it was low of me to try to win by mentioning you. I'm sorry and I will make music that doesn't disappoint from now on."

To Rhymer he expressed, "I am very sorry for releasing a track without telling you. Thank you. I will do my best to devote myself to music."

With no more diss tracks planned any time in the near future, Swings intends to get back to work on his upcoming album.

With the attention from the heated rap war as a jumping off point, Swings concluded, "I have no regrets. I'm going to go my way until the end. My goal is to make the people who dislike me into my fans through my music."
