"Entering its sixth year, SIA is the only style icon awards in Korea and has played a key role in K-Culture's expansion overseas since 2008," said Sung Mi Han, general manager of CJ E&M's Style Business Division.

"Based on keen knowhow and experience into what fans most want, the 2013 Style Icon Awards promises to be the best ever with various culture and style events in addition to our much acclaimed awards ceremony."

The 10 Style Icon Award winners will be selected from 50 nominees, each selected in relation to this year's theme of "otherness."

A mix of audience polling and a panel of professionals will determine the winners.

According to CJ E&M, 40 percent of the votes will be tallied from surveys and 30 percent will be from online votes. An executive committee comprised of creative directors, stylists and photographers will determine the remaining 30 percent of the voting.

In addition to the ceremony itself, SIA 2013 will also reportedly include live music, A-list parties and art exhibitions by artists like fashion photographer Mario Testino.

"Since its debut in 2008, SIA has played significant role in K-Culture's expansion worldwide, promoting 'Style Icons' as those people and behaviors that have inspired the world's cultural trends with their distinctiveness," the CJ E&M statement read.

2012 Style Icon of the Year Award winner Jang Dong Gun, quipped in his acceptance speech that he may be too old to deserve the award, according to the website allkpop.

"I wonder if I'm allowed to receive this award instead of all of the prominent [younger stars]," the actor said after receiving the honor. "I will work hard to greet the audience not only through acting, but through good style too."

Jang then turned to his wife, who was sitting in the crowd.

"Honey, I won the big award," he said.
