Despite Plagiarism Controversy, 'I Got C' By Park Myung Soo And Primary Jumps To Number 1 On Billboard K-Pop Hot 100

Despite a plagiarism controversy that reportedly resulted in a record label block on online sales, "I Got C" by comedian Park Myung Soo and hip-hop producer Primary jumped to number one on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 this week.

Rapper Gaeko of the hip-hop group Dynamic Duo is also featured on the track.

Park Myung Soo and Primary allegedly copied Dutch artist Caro Emerald's "Liquid Lunch," on "I Got C," a charge Primary's record label vehemently denied in a statement last week.

"As the actual composer of the song in the plagiarism controversy said 'it is not plagiarism,' we hope this will no longer be the subject of discussion," the Amoeba Culture statement read. "It is only a genre-related similarity, definitely not plagiarism."

Originally written for the South Korean TV variety show "Infinite Challenge" in which comedians often collaborate with pop stars, "I Got C" debuted last week at number six on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100.

Another "Infinite Challenge" collaboration, the surprisingly powerful G-Dragon and Hyung Don rap song "Going To Try" comes in at number three on the Billboard K-pop chart this week, after debuting last week at number 10.

Sung Si Kyung's cover of the 1993 song "To You" by K-pop pioneers Seo Taiji and Boys is the number two song on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100, up one place from last week.

Sung told eNEWS that he was worried about whether he would be able to match the quality of the Seo Taiji and Boys version.

"A remake usually cannot be better than the original," he said. "It was a song I've always really liked, so I decided to participate as a fan."

The only new addition to the K-pop top five this week, "Hush" by the girl group Miss A, debuted at number four this week.

And in a week where she became the most talked-about celebrity in K-pop after allkpop published censored nude photos she had allegedly taken for a potential modeling job, solo singer Ailee's single "Because Of Tears" dropped one spot in its second week on the Billboard chart, to number five.
