ZE:A Dongjun Lead Role on NAVER's Web Series ‘Aftermath’

ZE:A's Dongjun is making his male lead acting debut as the protagonist of "Aftermath", a web series based on a very popular Naver comic. Not familiar with comic based dramas? Don't know what to expect or watch for? Here are some pointers that will help you enjoy the series.

First of all, Dongjun's acting will be something to look out for. It's his first lead role ever, so many fans are looking to use it as a benchmark for how much his acting improved. Plus, other members in ZE:A are already making a name for themselves as top-shelf actors by appearing on popular dramas and movies, including "The Heirs" and "The Attorney", so it will be interesting to see if Dongjun can continue the streak.

His role is that of a high school student named An Dae Yong. After falling to his death, he gains a strange power as he comes back to life.

From watching just the teaser videos, Dongjun's portrayal of An Dae Yong seems to be spot on. An Dae Yong's powers cause himself pain and fear internally, and Dongjun was able to process even the shaky voice that An Dae Yong spoke with as a result.

The staff who worked "Aftermath" with Dongjun said that his acting was "flawless", saying, "He captured both the romantic aspect he shares with the female lead and the fear and horror of being a high school student with supernatural abilities. It's hard to believe that he's an idol star and not a trained actor."

Secondly, the uniqueness of the genre will be a very interesting point. "Aftermath" is a coming-of-age fantasy thriller. Fusion genres such as this have been very popular this year. Fusion genres that combine drama with fantasy, such as "The Master's Sun" and "You Who Came from the Stars", are popular now more than ever.

"Aftermath" has a unique premise. A teenage boy named An Dae Yong falls from high to his death, only to find that not only did he not die, he's gained the power to see death. The people who are destined to die soon have red eyes to An Dae Yong. The people who will soon be killing a person have blue eyes to An Dae Yong. The episode that builds on this premise is intense and promises to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller.

Computer graphics as well as hours of extensive make up was used to realistically portray every scene.

Lastly, the presentation itself will be an interesting experience, because "Aftermath" is not a TV drama. It is a web series that is exclusively shown by Naver. The drama can be viewed through the phone and online browsers.

This type of presentation allows the producers incredible freedom to pursue unique genres, use young, albeit unknown actors, and target a certain crowd. The show is perfectly targeted at teenagers who are also in middle school and high school who are able to access online content with ease. Plus, there is a chance of the drama being remade on a mainstream channel if the web series becomes popular. That is, an entire series of this drama can be used as a pilot to gauge interest for network TV.

The producers of "Aftermath" are vowing to make it a runaway hit.

"Aftermath" is broken into two parts. The first part of "Aftermath", "Season 1: The Sixth Sense That Appeared after the Accident", has already been released on Naver. The second part, "Season 2: They Who Desire Less Live Happier", will be released shortly thereafter.
