American Horror Story Season 4 [RUMOR]: Marlene Dietrich Inspiration For Jessica Lange Character?

Although "American Horror Story" has yet to finish airing season 3 "Coven," rumors and spoilers on season 4 have begun to pour in.

Most recently, creator Ryan Murphy shared some hints about Jessica Lange's character for "American Horror Story" season 4.

"It's set in 1950," said Murphy. "If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there's some more clues in that year. It's a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we've done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I'm very excited!"

While many theories are currently out there about what type of character Jessica Lange will be play, the most popular rumor is that she will be inspired by actress and cabaret star Marlene Dietrich.

Historically, while Dietrich enjoyed worldwide stardom early in her career, she performed almost exclusively as a highly paid cabaret act across the globe from the 1950s onward.

"She ... transcends her material," said film historian Peter Bogdanovich. "Whether it's a flighty old tune like 'I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Baby' ... a schmaltzy German love song, 'Das Lied ist Aus' or a French one 'La Vie en Rose', she lends each an air of the aristocrat, yet she never patronises ... A folk song, 'Go 'Way From My Window' has never been sung with such passion, and in her hands 'Where Have All the Flowers Gone?' is not just another anti-war lament but a tragic accusation against us all."

Although many fans appear to be guessing that "American Horror Story" season 4 will be about a circus, could a cabaret star be in the midst portrayed by Jessica Lange?
