Yoochun Blackmailed! Gangnam Police Arrest Woman Who Allegedly Tried To Extort JYJ Singer For $93,000

JYJ singer-turned-actor Park Yoochun just can't seem to catch a break.

Less than a month after tearing a ligament in his shoulder while filming the television drama "3 Days," Yoochun's girlfriend lost her cell phone.

To make matters much, much worse, the woman who found it, referred to in published reports as "Kim," apparently decided to threaten to release photos of the JYJ singer and his girlfriend she found on the phone to the public unless Yoochun, his manager and his record label, C-JeS Entertainment, paid her $93,000.

"Kim found [Yoochun girlfriend's] lost cellphone last month and looked through the personal information stored on it," a representative from JYJ's record label C-JeS Entertainment told the publication eNEWS on Tuesday.

"When she found Park Yoo Chun's personal photos and texts, she demanded $93,000 or she would sell them to press or release them online."

Lawyers for C-JeS reportedly requested a full investigation of the incident.

"Picking up a lost item and using it without permission is already a crime in itself, so we requested an investigation," the record label spokesperson said.

"The amount that Kim demanded was a large amount, so she was immediately put under arrest and the case was sent to the prosecution."

According to the website allkpop, police spokesman from Seoul's Gangnam District said Tuesday that they have arrested Kim, who is described as being in her 30s.

"We have arrested a suspect who we believe had been threatening to spread the texts and photos over the internet if Park Yoochun, his manager and his record label did not hand over $93,000," the police spokesperson said.

The C-JeS spokesperson added that Yoochun should not feel responsible for this incident, especially considering it wasn't even he who lost his phone.

"The cellphone in question didn't even belong to Park Yoo Chun, and therefore he has nothing to do with this case," the label rep said.

"He is currently focusing on filming '3 Days' and does not even know the exact details of this issue. The reason for this statement is to cooperate with a case where a suspect was trying to violate a person's privacy, so please refrain from publishing exaggerated reports."
