Alleged Quran Verse Removed In New CL 'MTBD' Video On 2NE1 YouTube Channel: Korea Muslim Federation Demands Formal YG Apology

As the controversy surrounding 2NE1 leader CL's solo song "MTBD" continues, a new video has been uploaded with the alleged Quran verse removed.

For those who are not aware, some fans (Muslim or otherwise) have noticed a background portion of CL's "MTBD" that sound similar a Quran verse, and a lot of backlash and media attention has been cast over the song.

In particular, a YouTube video uploaded on the official 2NE1 channel showing a live performance of "MTBD" has drawn heavy attention because observers could hear the alleged Quran verse very distinctly.

"Muslims find this song to be a severe insult and are demanding for the agency to take action including quickly removing it or editing the entire song, and apologizing to Muslims," says a formal complaint from the Korea Muslim Federation.

"In the case that they don't comply to the demand, we will take action with the Muslims around the world who find this to be a serious matter."

Since the eruption of alleged death threats and backlash, the "MTBD" live performance video has been removed and a new video with altered background music has been uploaded.

"I'm glad that YG decided to remove the offensive part," writes Victoria Quinn on YouTube.

"People shouldn't overreact and call Muslism oversensitive because of this. If you aren't Muslim (which I also am not) you have no right to dictate what is and what isn't offensive to them. The same goes for any race or religion for that matter."

This, however, does not indicate whether the newly released "Crush" album will be re-released due to the controversy, or if the release will remain as is with the unaltered "MTBD" track.
