South Korean Pop Stars Express Support For Victims Of Jeju Ferry Disaster: Hundreds Of Passengers Still Feared Trapped

South Korean authorities fear 278 people, many of them believed to be from a group of 300 students from Seoul on a class trip to Jeju Island, are trapped inside a ferry off of the nation's southeast coast, after the vessel flipped on its side and filled with water on Wednesday.

Four people among the 439 passengers have been confirmed dead, according to CNN.

Thursday, as the international relief effort mounted, South Korean president South Korean President Park Geun Hye vowed to do everything possible to rescue to save the victims of the ferry disaster.

"We cannot give up," President Park said following a briefing in Seoul, according to CBS News. "We have to do our best to rescue even one passenger."

As news of the disaster made headlines around the world, many of South Korea's top pop stars took to social media to both express their sorrow and solidarity for the victims of a tragedy that is still unfolding.

"With the number of missing people on my chest, I don't think I can sleep well tonight," wrote K-pop balladeer Byul.

"They say it's too late, but if only we can save even just one life. I'm praying for miracles. Let's all pray with one heart. We need to save at least one person. Let's gather our strength together."

4Minute singer So Hyun is also crushed.

"This is just heartbreaking," she wrote. "I pray that all the missing people will be rescued."

2AM frontman Jo Kwon is also sending prayers to the victims.

"I wish the sun would not set for just today," he wrote. "I pray for a safe rescue."

Nichkhun of the boy band 2PM is hoping for the best.

"I hope they will find more survivors," he wrote.

Hwanhee, formerly of the South Korean R&B duo "Fly to the Sky," is distraught.

"I still can't sleep," he wrote late Wednesday night. "I'm just praying the number of missing people shrinks. I keep watching the TV and it's so suffocating. What is happening all of a sudden? Please rescue them quickly! Please."

SHINee vocalist Key just wants it to be over.

"I pray that everything will end quickly and well," he wrote.
