Fans are still hurt by EXO's Baekhyun and Girls' Generation's Taeyeon's newly-confirmed relationship.

Not only did fans reportedly call Baekhyun a "traitor" during the most recent filming of Inkigayo, but over 1,800 fans have signed a petition demanding that Baekhyun leave EXO.

According to The Korea Herald, the petition has since been removed from the Korean portal site, but was partially posted due to the fans' concern that Baekhyun "mocked" them with his relationship is causing a rift in the EXO fandom.

Both Korean and international fans are hurt over the relationship, but many fans have also shown support for the new couple.

However, many of Taeyeon and Baekhyun's fans have shown extreme anger over the relationship, saying that both idols never gave a hint to being in a relationship and instead seemed to show only love for their fans. Now a lot of people are saying that posts on SNS that seemed aimed at the fandoms were actually secret messages between the two idols, making these fans feel further betrayed.

A comment from a Nate article, as translated by Netizenbuzz, explained the feeling of many fans:

"The reason Sones and EXO fans are so disappointed in you is not because you're dating. You two are in your twenties, not every fan would be against you dating. But the actions you showed us.. posts that we thought you uploaded for us to see, nicknames we gave you... To turn it all into secret codes for each other, masking them as messages to your fans. It makes me so sad and angry that you deceived us. Baekhyun, your promise to wait until 35.. You were the first one in EXO to break it. Taeyeon, all of those messages we thought you were sending us, the same messages we laughed and worried over... Do you not see how we feel? You two practically begged to have your relationship recognized and we recognized it and now we're hurt. Is this what you wanted? We heard your voices and were so happy for you..."

According to online comments posted by fans who signed the petition, it isn't because of the fact that Baekhyun is dating that they want him removed from EXO, but because of a picture that recently surfaced reportedly showing Baekhyun drinking while still a minor.

Baekhyun serves as an MC and is a member of one of the most popular Korean idol groups active right now. According to The Korea Herald, some people have voiced concern through various online community portals that his disregard for the law when he was younger shows that he shouldn't be someone who fans look up to.

Taeyeon has also come under fire for dating the EXO member, with fans saying that she's also betrayed their trust. While other Girls' Generation members have comfortably revealed that they were dating, Taeyeon's fans feel that this situation is different and many fans do not support the relationship because of the way that the idols carried on prior to confirming the relationship.

One fan went as far as to say, "She's a fox disguised as a bear. Baekhyun-ah, Taeyeon-ah~ Dating's fine but you made a fool of your fans. Especially Baekhyun, for him to use fanmade placards 'This is the beginning' for that? Please go all the way to marriage ^^ Just how much of a joke did you think of your fans that you made it that obvious on SNS? You thought nothing of your fans but as money machines, yeah?"

Taeyeon posted a message to fans on her Instagram, asking for support, but has since deleted the post.

Prior to the relationship coming to light, tickets sold out for the performances of Singing In The Rain when Baekhyun will be appearing on stage. However, a Kuki News report revealed that after SM Entertainment confirmed the relationship, disappointed and upset fans began to sell their tickets.

EXO has seen the effects of the recent fan turmoil in other ways too. The group has reportedly lost over 180,000 fans from their official fan cafe within the last month.
