These are The 25 Most Popular Girl Group Idols for August

The Korean Business Research Institute released its brand reputation rankings for K-Pop girl group members for the month of August. To determine which idols make the list, they analyzed trends such as consumer participation, community awareness, and news coverage.

25. GFRIEND's Umji

Umji debuted with GFRIEND in 2015 and is the group's lead rapper, vocalist, and maknae. She joined the group after being scouted by the CEO of Source Music to audition.

24. (G)I-DLE's Shuhua

Shuhua debuted in 2018 with (G)I-DLE and is the group's sub-vocalist, visual, and maknae. Prior to debuting, she wanted to be an actress but switched her dreams to be a K-Pop star after her friends introduced her to the genre. She was inspired by HyunA to be an artist and joined the Cube Audition in Taiwan because her friends asked her to go with them. She is the group's only Taiwanese member.

23. (G)I-DLE's Minnie

Minnie debuted in 2018 with (G)I-DLE and is the group's main vocalist. Fans may have seen her when she appeared on PENTAGON MAKER before her debut. CUBE Entertainment had announced her as a part of CUBE TREE, the company's trainee team, in 2016. She is the group's only Thai member.

22. GFRIEND's SinB

SinB debuted with GFRIEND in 2015 and is the group's main dancer, vocalist, and center. Prior to signing with Source Music, she trained under Big Hit Entertainment for five years. She is also part of the SM Station X girl group project: Seulgi x SinB x Chungha x Soyeon.

21. GFRIEND's Eunha

Eunha debuted with GFRIEND in 2015 and is the group's lead vocalist. Prior to signing with Source Music, she was a trainee under Big Hit Entertainment for a year. She is part of a group called "Sunny Girls" alongside WJSN's Cheng Xia, Oh My Girl's YooA, Gugudan's Nayoung, and MOMOLAND's Nancy.

20. (G)I-DLE's Miyeon

Miyeon debuted with (G)I-DLE in 2018 and is the group's main vocalist and visual. She trained under YG Entertainment prior to debut and was part of the line-up for PINK PUNK, which we now know as BLACKPINK. Miyeon was part of the League of Legend's group K/DA.

19. ITZY's Lia

Lia debuted with ITZY in 2019 and is the group's main vocalist and sub-rapper. It's been speculated that she was a former SM Entertainment trainee, but it is unconfirmed. Some say she had passed the auditions but ultimately did not sign with them. She is the member with the shortest training time.

Soojin debuted with (G)I-DLE in 2018 and is the group's main dancer, sub-vocalist, and sub-rapper. Prior to her debut, she was part of the line-up for girl group VIVIDIVA and had even performed with them, but left before their debut. She appeared in Soyeon's "Jelly" music video before debuting in (G)I-DLE as the fox girl. CUBE Entertainment had announced her as a part of CUBE TREE, the company's trainee team, in 2017.

17. GFRIEND's Sowon

Sowon debuted with GFRIEND in 2015 and is the group's leader, main rapper, vocalist, and visual. She trained for five years before making her debut and was previously a trainee under DSP Media, where she trained alongside the members of KARD.

16. Oh My Girl's Jiho

Jiho debuted with Oh My Girl in 2015 and is the group's lead vocalist, lead dancer, and visual. Prior to her debut, she appeared in B1A4's BABA 2012 Concert Video. After her debut, she appeared in B1A4's "Sweet Girl" music video.

Yuqi debuted with (G)I-DLE in 2018 and is the group's lead dancer, sub-vocalist, sub-rapper, and face of the group. She auditioned for CUBE Entertainment in 2014. CUBE Entertainment had announced her as a part of CUBE TREE, the company's trainee team, in 2017. Yuqi is the only Chinese member.

Joy debuted with Red Velvet in 2014 and is the group's lead rapper and sub-vocalist. She is the only member to have not been introduced to fans through SM Rookies. Other than her activities with Red Velvet, Joy is active as an actress.

Soyeon debuted with (G)I-DLE in 218 and is the group's leader, main rapper, sub-vocalist, and center. Prior to her debut, she appeared on "Produce 101 Season 1", where she placed 20th place in the finale. She also appeared on "Unpretty Rapstar" and placed 3rd. She first debuted as a soloist before debuting as a member of (G)I-DLE. She composes, arranged, and produces most of the group's material. Additionally, she is also part of the SM Station X girl group project: Seulgi x SinB x Chungha x Soyeon.

12. Oh My Girl's Hyojung

Hyojung debuted with Oh My Girl in 2015 as the group's leader and main vocalist. She was a former Soul Shop Entertainment trainee. Hyojung had only trained for six months under WM Entertainment before making her debut. She is part of the Oh My Girl sub-unit, Oh My Girl Banhana.

11. IZ*ONE's Jang Wonyoung

Jang Wonyoung debuted with IZ*ONE in 2018 and is the group's lead dancer, vocalist, rapper, center, and maknae. She was added to the group following her appearance on "Produce 48", where she ranked 1st place in the finale, earning her the center position. Prior to her debut, she appeared in YDPP's "LOVE IT LIVE IT" music video.

10. BLACKPINK's Rosé

Rosé debuted with BLACKPINK in 2016 and is the group's main vocalist and lead dancer. She joined YG Entertainment after placing first in the auditions in Australia in 2012. Prior to her debut, she collaborated with G-Dragon for his song "Without You". She was born in New Zealand but was raised in Australia.

9. BLACKPINK's Lisa

Lisa debuted with BLACKPINK in 2016 and is the group's main dancer, lead rapper, sub-vocalist, and maknae. She is the first non-Korean artist to ever make their debut under YG Entertainment and is Thai. Prior to her debut, she was in a dance crew called We Zaa Cool with GOT7's Bambam. She appeared in Taeyang's "Ringa Linga" music video. From 2014 to 2017, she acted in NONA9ON's advertisements. In 2020, she appeared in the Chinese survival show "Youth With You" as the dance mentor.

8. MAMAMOO's Hwasa

Hwasa debuted with MAMAMOO in 2014 and is the group's lead vocalist, lead rapper, and maknae. Prior to her debut, she used to record the guide vocals for 4Minute. She featured in Phantom's "Fingernail", Baehcigi's "Boy Jump", and VRomance's "SHE". She debuted as a soloist in 2019 with the song "TWIT".

7. BLACKPINK's Jisoo

Jisoo debuted with BLACKPINK in 2016 and is the group's lead vocalist and visual. Prior to her debut, she made a cameo in the KBS drama "The Producers" and acted in HISUHYUN's music video for "I'm Different" and EPIK HIGH's "Spoiler + Happy Ending" music video. She was also active as a model, filming advertisements for Samsonite, Smart Uniform, Nikon, Angel Stone, and LG Stylus.

6. Red Velvet's Seulgi

Seulgi debuted with Red Velvet in 2014 and is the group's main dancer and lead vocalist. She was part of SM Rookies before debuting. She featured in Henry's song "Butterfly" prior to her debut, and also appeared in Henry's "Fantastic" music video. She is part of the group Girls Next Door which was created from the TV program "Idol Drama Operation Team". She is also part of the SM Station X girl group project: Seulgi x SinB x Chungha x Soyeon. She debuted in the first Red Velvet sub-unit with Irene in July 2020.

Naeun debuted with Apink in 2011 and is the group's lead dancer, vocalist, rapper, center, and visual. She appeared in BEASTS' music videos for "Beautiful", "I Like You The Best", and "I'm Fine". She also appeared in VICTON's "I'm Fine" music video, PSY's "New Face" music videos, and SPEED's music videos for "It's Over" and "That's My Fault". She is also active as an actress, acting in both dramas and movies.

Arin debuted with Oh My Girl in 2015 and is the group's lead dancer, sub-vocalist, and maknae. She is part of the Oh My Girl sub-unit, Oh My Girl Banhana. She acted in the web drama "Girls' World" as the female lead in February 2020.

2. Red Velvet's Irene

Irene debuted with Red Velvet in 2014 and is the group's leader, main rapper, lead dancer, sub-vocalist, visual, and center. She was part of SM Rookies prior to her debut. She appeared in Henry's "143" music video and SHINee's "Why So Serious" music video. She debuted in the first Red Velvet sub-unit with Seulgi in July 2020.

Jennie debuted with BLACKPINK in 2016 and is the group's main rapper and lead vocalist. She spent her formative years in New Zealand to study. Prior to her debut, she appeared in G-Dragon's music video for "That XX". She also featured on G-Dragon's "Black", Lee Hi's "Special", and Seungri "GG BE". In 2018, she made her solo debut with the song "SOLO".
