Thanks to their outstanding performance in 2021, aespa is currently one of the leading girl groups in the fourth generation of K-pop. However, it seems that the individual popularity among the members is not even. Following their performance at the 2021 SBS Gayo Daejeon, South Korean internet users pointed out that Karina and Winter's "Savage" fan cams had high views, while Ningning and Giselle's had fewer views.

Winter's fan cam garnered over 270,000 views in just two days, making her the member with the highest-viewed fan cam. Second place went to Karina with over 235,000 views. Ningning received 43,000 views, while Giselle's fan cam garnered 36,000 views, making her the aespa member with the lowest view count.

Fan cam views partially reflect the popularity of idols. Due to the staggering difference between Karina and Winter with Ningning and Giselle, many wonder if aespa's fan base comprises mainly of solo fans, or fans who only like one member, rather than people who like the group as a whole.

However, some argued that fan cam views reflect the level of interest that the public has for aespa members, which is different than the fan bases' interest in the members. As the group has only been active for year, people are still learning about the group, so it is natural that one or two members will catch their eyes first. One internet user stated, "aespa does not have a lot of fans yet, so I do not think their fandom is divided. It is just that the public has a different view."

Karina and Winter are undoubtedly the two most popular members of aespa. In the December 2020 female idol brand reputation rankings, Winter ranked second place, Karina ranked fourth place, Giselle ranked seventh place and Ningning ranked 11th place, making her the lowest in the group.

How Popular are aespa's Ningning and Giselle?

Winter and Karina are the most popular members, so more people search and watch their fan cams more. Additionally, both Karina and Winter are Korean, so they are favored in South Korea. As Giselle and Ningning are foreigners, they often get less attention.

People believe that the public only recognizes Karina and Winter. Some internet users state that Giselle and Ningning are not the type of idols the public likes since they are not Korean, with some people primarily pointing out that the public is not kind to Chinese stars. As Ningning is from China, she is often the victim of prejudice.

Although there is a gap in popularity among the aespa members, it does not mean that Giselle and Ningning are unpopular. Despite being in lower rankings than Winter and Karina in the December 2021 brand reputation rankings, they still held relatively high positions. In the November 2021 chart, Giselle even jumped to fourth place, while Ningning ranked in sixth.
