Man Arrested For Breaking Into JYP Entertainment Headquarters With A Knife

A man broke into JYP Entertainment's building on July 17, carrying a knife.

Korean media is reporting that the Seoul police has arrested a man who brought a knife into JYP's main building in Gangnam, Seoul.  The police are currently investigating the details of the case, and the man's motives as to why he brought a knife into the entertainment company's building.

The man, revealed only by his surname Choi, snuck into the building by closely following an employee and getting through the company's security at ground level. Despite employees trying to keep the man from entering the building, Choi was able to make it up to the third floor.

He then went into a recording room and demanded to meet  the CEO of the company Park Jin Young, JYP himself.

After a secretary told Choi that he would be unable to meet JYP, Choi threw a knife inside the recording room. It is unclear at this time whether he threw the knife at anybody.

The police revealed that Choi was upset about an employment application that he submitted and never received a response for.

"I sent in an application to enter JYP Entertainment two years ago, yet I didn't receive any response or meet with Park - therefore, I decided to come myself," Choi sad to the police, according to the Korea Herald's translation.

It is unclear what sort of application Choi was seeking, or what his intentions towards JYP when he came into the building wielding a knife. The knife was 30 centimeters long, a little short than one foot.

Luckily, nobody was hurt during the ordeal and police arrived on scene within ten minutes.

Korean entertainment companies usually have extremely strict security due to the risk of fans trying to break in, so it is a bit worrisome that someone was able to make his way up to the third floor of JYP.

JYP Entertainment is considered one of Korea's top three entertainment companies, alongside SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment.
