Big Bang At The Helm Of YG Entertainment's 'Most Important Year,' Says CEO

With Big Bang expected to drop their first album in nearly three years this April, YG Entertainment hopes the group will get the ball rolling for successful WINNER and iKON releases.

YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk recently announced an expected release schedule for the company's three boy bands starting with Big Bang's highly anticipated new album in April. Now Yang is calling 2015 the company's "most important year."

“This year is going to be the most important one for YG," he said in a statement to TV Report on February 17. "Maybe it will be more important than the year 2006, when Big Bang first debuted."

Earlier this week Yang revealed plans to have boy bands WINNER and yet-to-debut iKON follow up the new Big Bang album in one-month increments, meaning big releases from the company in April, May, and June.

"WINNER’s second album and iKON’s very first album are on standby," he said. "If Big Bang starts this year well, the younger artists will be able to follow up."

"Big Bang is in charge of this crucial role for YG.”

In addition to revealing that he will stay behind in the studio over the Lunar New Year holiday with he members of Big Bang, WINNER, and iKON while they continue to work on their albums, Yang also had high praise for what is in store.

"G-Dragon is participating in every part of this new [Big Bang] album," he noted. "I’ve listened to its new songs and I have to admit that I was so thrilled. The album will contain various tracks that show Big Bang's talents and attractions.”

No release date has been set yet for Big Bang's upcoming album, although member Seungri recently revealed a teaser image of the group via Instagram.
