2PM Members Sign On For Three More Years at JYP Entertainment Despite 2AM Split

2PM will remain intact under the JYP Entertainment umbrella with all six idols renewing their contracts for at least three more years up to January 2018, reports Allkpop.

"All the 2PM members have completed the re-signing process. The duration of the new contract is from January 2015 to January of 2018," a JYP Entertainment spokesperson was reported to have said on March 26.

"We've discussed the contract renewal since the autumn of 2014 with the 2PM members. The members all expressed their wish to re-sign, and they renewed their contracts together," the spokesperson added.

2PM's solidarity behind JYP is in stark contrast with what has happened with its counterpart ballad quartet 2AM, which together with 2PM, previously formed the supergroup One Day.

A couple of 2AM members, Im Seulong and Jinwoon, have decided not to renew as JYP artists and have moved on to other agencies. Only Jo Kwon has been confirmed to be staying at JYP, with the fourth member Changmin still mulling whether to stay or leave as his contract expiration arrives in the next several months.

Despite splitting into different agencies, JYP has assured that 2AM is not officially disbanding and the members could still promote as a group.

2PM shared a similar situation was similar with 2AM in that 2PM members had different contract expiration dates but this did not hinder their united re-signing under JYP.

"All the members of 2PM had different contract expiration dates, but they all decided that they would like to stay with JYP and all of them extended their contracts for 3 more years. We respected their wishes and now we are glad to be able to continue working with all of them under the name of 2PM," a JYP spokesperson told Star News, according to Koreaboo.
