Ryeowook Announces Plans To Follow Kyuhyun As 2nd Super Junior Soloist

The first SM Entertainment idol to release a solo album in 2016 will be none other than Super Junior's Ryeowook.

On Tuesday, Korean media outlet MyDaily reported that Kim Ryeowook, the second youngest member of Super Junior, will release his first solo album in 2016. It will be Ryeowook's first album as a soloist since debuting as a member of Super Junior in 2005.

Ryeowook will become the second member of Super Junior to release a solo album, following the success of Cho Kyuhyun's solo albums.

Since debuting in 2005, Ryeowook has been acknowledged for his vocal talent. As a member of Super Junior and vocal subgroup Super Junior K.R.Y (along with Kyuhyun and Yesung), Ryeowook has garnered much attention and raised anticipation for a solo album.

Ryeowook has also expressed interest in composition in the past, but it is unknown if the idol will have a role in producing his first solo album.

Ryeowook, known for his high tone, has released numerous songs as a soloist for television soundtracks as well as collaborative tracks. He has also performed in five different stage and musical theater shows, including "The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Nighttime."

The news came after Super Junior K.R.Y finished up a series of concerts as part of its second Asia Tour. The final show on the tour was held in Indonesia on Jan. 2.

This will also allegedly be the first Super Junior activity organized by a subsidiary agency set up by SM Entertainment in 2015.

Following Super Junior's tenth anniversary in the industry, the company established "Lable SJ" to manage the activities of Super Junior as a whole and the members' individual schedules.

No release date has yet to be announced regarding Ryeowook's solo debut.
