SXSW 2016: DEAN Will Be The Only Korean Act To Perform At The Spotify House

Soloist DEAN will be the only Korean artist to perform at the Spotify House during South by Southwest (SXSW) 2016.

On February 22, the R&B vocalist confirmed his appearance at the popular event through an Instagram post.

"Only Korean in SXSW Spotify 2016," said the 23-year-old singer-songwriter, in his Instagram message.

He joins a star-studded lineup of international acts including indie rock darlings, The Kills and Scottish electronic trio, Chvrches.

Korean-American electronic DJ and producer, TOKiMONSTA, will also appear at Spotify House. She will spin during select Soulcycle sessions.

DEAN is scheduled to take the Side Stage of the Austin, TX event on Tuesday, March 15 at 2:15 p.m.

Comedian and "Broad City" star, Hannibal Buress, will host the dynamic music event.

DEAN is an accomplished artist who launched his career as a 16-year-old member of a hip-hop crew led by Keith Ape of "It G Ma" fame.

He initially made his mark in Korean entertainment as a songwriter whose credits include the explosive EXO hit, "Growl."

“There are lots of legendary artists like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Michael Jackson,” said DEAN, in a statement published on his official website. “The one thing that their work has in common is that it accurately reflects the times like no other artists can do. I want to capture the same exact sentiment in my own music. I want people to listen back to my music in the same way and be impacted."

While he continues to garner acclaim for his extensive work behind-the-scenes in K-pop, he is poised to become a prolific force within the genre.

In 2015, he released "I Love It," a solid track featuring Dok2, which was produced by American R&B wunderkind, B.A.M.

He followed with the sensuous downtempo party ditty, "Pour Up," featuring Zico.

DEAN will appear at the Spotify House event, prior to joining the compelling lineup of K-Pop Night Out on Wednesday, March 16.
