Mark Rylance, Benedict Cumberbatch And Nicole Kidman Nominated For Olivier Awards

Mark Rylance, Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch and acting superstar Nicole Kidman have been nominated for Olivier Awards. Benedict Cumberbatch was nominated the title role in Hamlet and an Oscar nominee for The Imitation Game. Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours) was nominated for Photograph 51.

Cumberbatch faces competition in the best actor category from Mark Rylance, who just pulled in an Oscar for his turn in "Bridge Of Spies." Rylance is up for an Olivier Awards nomination for best actor in Farinelli And The King, in which he played King Phillipe V of Spain.

Benedict Cumberbatch, up for the title role in Hamlet and an Oscar nominee for The Imitation Game. Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours) is also up for an Olivier, for Photograph 51.

At London's WhatsOnStage Awards, Nicole Kidman won best actress in a play honors at London's WhatsOnStage Awards for her depiction of a real-life scientific heroine in "Photograph 51." Cumberbatch was named best actor in a play for "Hamlet," which was also named best revival.

Also in the running are Sir Kenneth Branagh for The Winter's Tale, Adrian Lester for Red Velvet and Kenneth Cranham for The Father.
