''The Vampire Diaries'' main female protagonist Nina Dobrev's love life has always been colourful. On one hand the holiday season in Dec. 2015 was busy reporting the news of Dobrev and Austin Stowell together, on the other hand the rumors of her breaking up with Stowell too have been doing rounds for the last few months.

Now since it is rumored that Dobrev might return in ''The Vampire Diaries'' season 7, will Ian Somerhalder and Nina get back together as a couple again? Or will they spread the rumor of dating just to revive the dying show ''The Vampire Diaries?'' Though there is no official confirmation of the actress returning to the series, the fans have been waiting to see their favorite  Elena Gilbert again. However, most of the reports confirm that Dobrev will not return in ''The Vampire Diaries'' season 7 and the show will be cancelled soon.

Presently Nina's calendar is full with the filming of ''xXx: The Return of Xander Cage'' which will be released on Jan. 20, 2017. Dobrev seems to be concentrating more on her professional life as she is getting offers from big banner movies. However, since the media has been speculating about her relationship status all the time, it is giving a boost to her popularity chart.

The last gossip which came out was that Nina and long-time buddy Chace Crawford might be dating. There is no official confirmation of this news and it is highly possible that the two good friends were just chilling out and having a good time.

Meanwhile, in Feb. 2016, Nina and Austin Stowell broke up after dating for 7 months. E online, Mail Online, ET online, Just Jared and many other celebrity gossip columns talked about the split in details. ''Dobrev was spotted out and about Super Bowl weekend without Stowell, mostly solo. Though, she did meet up with Julianne Hough'' reported ET online.

People confirmed the news of the break up too. Dobrev or Stowell's representatives did not release any official comment confirming the news; however, it seems that the rumor of split is true as the couple has stopped making public appearances as a couple now. ''Back in October, Dobrev, 27, and Stowell, 30, made their red carpet debut as a couple at the premiere of his movie Bridge of Spies, months after they were first linked in June'' confirmed People.

It seems that demanding career schedules did not allow both the actors to spend much time with each other and mushrooming rumors about Dobrev dating several men (Ian Somerhalder, Chace Crawford, Tim Tebow, Derek Hough) have caused this split.

So is this split final? Or are there any chances of the duo patching up like many other celebrity couples?
